Topic: Singing bass players Posted: April 13 2006 at 11:10 |
Tough choice here. I voted for Lake, but Geddy and Waters aren't too far behind.

I love Greg Lake, he's brilliant. The rest are so good aswel, some are much better than him as Bassists or Vocalists, but I am very fond of him, I cant explain why. I just love his playing and singing so much and I really cant put my hand on the reason....

Ditto. Geddy Lee is also a favouite.

I voted on Wetton but I'm happy seeing Mariusz Duda here (really nice guy - I talked to him lately before Riverside's gig in Cracow) and don't forget about Colin 'the same name' BASS.![](smileys/smiley32.gif)

Sorry about that, but I have to admit I have a weakness for singers who can actually SING... Lemmy is a rock icon, no doubt about that, but I'm not a fan of either his voice or his way of playing bass.

Chris squire and Geddy lee. I love Wetton's bass playing but im not to fond of his voice. Imo Larks' Tongues would be a lot better if he had less strained voice.

^^^I have an idea. Lets string Geddy up by his balls and see just how high he can really sing.

Geddy Lee is obviously eons beyond anybody as far as singing and playing bass. It's no contest. Squire and Wetton are great, but Geddy is a phenomenon.

For the combination of singing and bass playing I picked Greg Lake.

For overall playing/singing, I went with Wetton. But as far as skills on bass, Geddy Lee and Chris Squire beat him out.

For me, it's gotta be WETTON.![Thumbs Up](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif)
Solid bassist, fine vocalist, & a great resume (apart from Asia): Crimson, UK, Hackett live, etc.![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif)

Although Wetton and Lake are surely high quality bassists/vocalists my vote goes to their predecessor Jack Bruce.

What about PETE TREWAVAS?
I think he's a good bassist and sings quite good as well.
