Topic: Alert All Progressive Rock Fans!!! Posted: March 19 2006 at 17:58 |
I used to play piano when I was a young kid. Picked up a keyboard again
recently and have been attempting to better myself at that.
Don't have any money for lessons, which is a bit of a disappointment.
Started off with basic melodies from mostly video game music, then
moved onto Camel and classical music. Still working my way up. Only
been playing for a few months.
I also played the violin as a boy, but I'm not sure how skilled I would be at that these days.
I also compose a bit of my own stuff, but nothing too complex just yet.
If any experienced keyboardists have any advice, I'd be happy to hear it~

Yeah, I play guitar and keyboards to an extent, going to get a bass soon, I'm not great or anything, adequate I guess. But I spend most of my time up in my room writing twenty minute epics, and then I have to deal with the frustration of people not wanting to be in a prog rock band. Every musical person I know doesn't like prog.

Prog Rock fans are often musicians because it is a form of music that
is defined by the virtuosity of the players and/or the complexity of
the compositions. It is not as easily accesible to non-musician
listeners as simple music forms such as punk.
I play the sax, guitar, and piano/keys.

Electric Guitar. I'm learning how I can, in home. I haven't got money for pay class. . But Iam very happy in one year and a half I managed to play (with more or less sucess) some songs or part of the songs that I like. There's no money enough in world to pay the pleasure of playing, for example, a guitar solo of Andrew Latimer.
Now my life is divided in two sections: when I'm listening to music and when I'm making music. It's wonderfull ¡¡¡ (well, sometimes I try to read a book or go to watch a good movie ).

Well, I played Alto and Tenor Sax and clarinette but I didn't like that. The sounds of sax just makes me sick, and not because I was the sax player, I just hate this sound :S . Now I want to learn how to play bass guitar because I think it's the coolest instrument in the world. It sounds sooooo intense ! So watch out for me, I'll be the next best bass guitarist on earth ![](smileys/smiley2.gif) .. see you soon in concert

I've been playing the keys and the piano for some time now. I just learned to play the piano intro to Firth of Fifth. So sweet! I never thought I could play that one day

I've noodled on a guitar from time to time, but unfortunately I've never commited to it. I can play the intro riff to Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper, but little else...

Yeah, its a pretty subjective question...
Because according to what i have observe, i found out that most people who really appreciate prog rock more are the ones that either:
1: Play a Musical Instrument
2: Have knowledge in Music
3: Able to write music
4: A musician
As you see, i strongly emphasize the word Most.. I am sure that there
are also ppl who doesn't fall into the 4 catagories, just want to do a
survey =).
Cheers!
