I don't think Glenn Branca is the weirdest of the lot but compared to normie music it certainly is unusual and experimental. Definitely check out the masterpiece The Ascension. Experimental rock classic. Edited by siLLy puPPy - 8 hours 52 minutes ago at 10:52 |

I think all of these are excellent, but I'll vote for Ground Zero's one today since it's a overlooked masterpiece of mayhem and maybe the weirdest album here barring the Trout (or even more so actually).

One of the weirdest albums I've heard isn't on the poll or on this site. It's an album called Silence & Wisdom by Deux Filles.

Comus - First Utterance - the only album I know in the poll, which will come as no surprise to anyone who knows my musical tastes.

NOBODY weirder than the Residents. The music was weird. Their live performances were weird. They eyeball suit imagery was weird. AND they were prolifically weird from various angles. Definitely my pick of weirdest musical artist of ALL time. |

I love how you phrased this, because that's basically what I consciously embrace now, lol. I look for stuff I can't hear immediately; it's the most rewarding. Gorguts Obscura sounds like a beautiful ballet of dissonance to me now, versus just a wall of noise. I have a theory that "building" those synapses makes you notice/appreciate other stuff in less-dense music, as well! Neuroplasticity?

I bought this LP at a student townhouse end of year moving sale. I think I paid $5 for it. I just really liked the cover I haven't played it in over 45 years without a lie. It deserves at least one more play before I shed this mortal coil. |

Before there was The Residents, there was this demo album sent to Warner Brothers. WB sent it back to them and since there was no name attached to the demo, they addressed it to RESIDENTS. Hence, their name. This is now been re-released in modern times because I guess their own discography wasn't already weird enough.
