Mine is definitely Dün - Eros. I just like intricate vocals.and xylophone playing. It has that Frank Zappa vibe to it.

Don't know all the albums, but Trout Mask Replica is the weirdest album I've ever heard.

Good choice for the Gorguts album. If we are going to be adding avant-garde metal, I could've added Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante to the poll list.

If we're going weirdest, I would think of a couple other Zappa entries before Absolutely Free (though that one is certainly up there). We're Only In It..., Thing-Fish, Ship Arriving..., and Joe's Garage come to mind first. Sheik Yerbouti, Uncle Meat, and Live in NY would come up at some point too... and all the works with Flo & Eddie... and... well, most of his discography really...

Oh Captain my Captain!
That was easy Funny how some albums start out completely impenetrable...and then after a good day of listening on repeat...small melodies appear and I started out peaking through ‘the looking glass’. That’s not to say that it’s for everyone..not even slightly. It will always remain an album most folks detest and like to cut down. That can however also be the mark of true genius.
Another wonderfully strange album I thought of whilst reading this poll is Geinoh Yamashirogumi’s Osorezan: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D5iLT7qalJc

Trout Mask, hands down. Not enjoyable by most Symph Prog fans but it's easily the weirdest. Just as Dr. Wu.

My favourite is not necessarily the weirdest, so hard to answer. I do love most of those albums. Favourites are Comus - First Utterance, Cardiacs - Sing to God, Dün - Eros, and Faust - s/t.
I'll give it to the mighty F.U. even though I don't think it's the weirdest of these despite being weird in its own unique way in the list. Cardiacs would be the band that gets the most playtime from me, and I love Sing to God. One of my most recent topics was a Dune poll, which was mostly an excuse to bring up Dün. Eros was an early fave album of mine when I was deeply diving into music listed at this site before I joined, and I have listened to it again in the last two weeks.

Out of this list, I would say Trout Mask Replica, but if it was up against the pre-Resident's WB album, I would put that one as the absolute weirdest album.

Hi,
Poor listing in my estimation, but I can't blame the OP for not knowing more material.
Some oddballs ...
White Noise - Electric Storm in Hell
Brainticket - Cottonwood Hill
Ultima Spiaggia
...
Heck, one could even add Aphrodite's Child 666 ... for one of the strangest albums that so many "progressives" can listen to past one cut! And to hear Irene Pappas ... well, she ain't no Madonna or Brittany or Taylor ... faking their excitement to teenagers that would not know the difference!

Sorry ... but that list is the biggest pile of trash I have ever seen ... the person putting it together obviously is upset that the "songs" are not formatted properly and are not a hit.
That list, actually, would fare better as a "progressive music" listing ... even if the idiot had never heard any of it, which I can not say he/she did at all ... "Dance of the Lemmings" is not weird, and the inside picture tells you all and the music stands out ... because it is not "based" on the "known" effects and formats used in radio and top of the pops ... and on top of it ... it makes fun at our own look at things ... opens a door, and all we can say is that it is weird ... and it isn't ... we intentionally STOPPED and closed the ability to learn and find out what it was all about. .... even more so, when "you" are not the pilot of the trip ... which is shown in the flaring out of the double LP inside cover.
It gets really sad when people think things are weird just because someone said so, not because they heard the albums!
I have heard and appreciated all the albums listed, and in fact, I have to look but I think I have 6 of them, maybe 7!

Mike (Silly Puppy) clearly came out with that list himself -- the one you should be directly addressing -- talking to rather than about. Calling him an idiot and making claims (the kinds of generalisations you often pull out) that I bet you cannot adequately support is not okay. I have issues with the list, partially because I think it would be better termed, 50 Albums I find Weird (rather than weirdest), but that doesn't mean that I would resort to name-calling or making unverified claims about the person. We have rules against insulting people and if that not being his list is not obvious to you, then you are not paying attention as he even said "Check out my 60 Weirdest albums list on RYM", which you edited out purposefully.
This is an official warning.

Another weird one for those of you interested in those listed in the poll would be the two Bubblemath albums. The first one particularly is incredibly weird when it comes to lyrical content. Disturbing as well. The second is probably a more consistent work overall, though the lyrics comment more on society. Either way, musically, quite adventurous and unexpected upon first or even second or third listen.

From the list, Comus. A little disappointed to not see any Residents (any of their albums would fit on this list and I would have included Not Available). White Noise was another I thought of, but it is not my list - just mentioning these titles for those who are looking for weird and don't know them.

The reason it's called WEIRDEST ALBUMS is because it's a joke. It's a parody of MOJO magazine's top 50 weirdest albums except that i'm replacing the choices with my own and of course it's my OPINION.
If i were to do a "normal" list then of course i would say MY CHOICE FOR WEIRD ALBUMS but that's not very WEIRD, is it?

Before there was The Residents, there was this demo album sent to Warner Brothers. WB sent it back to them and since there was no name attached to the demo, they addressed it to RESIDENTS. Hence, their name. This is now been re-released in modern times because I guess their own discography wasn't already weird enough.

I love how you phrased this, because that's basically what I consciously embrace now, lol. I look for stuff I can't hear immediately; it's the most rewarding. Gorguts Obscura sounds like a beautiful ballet of dissonance to me now, versus just a wall of noise.
I have a theory that "building" those synapses makes you notice/appreciate other stuff in less-dense music, as well! Neuroplasticity?
