Wedding prog

As for Tangerine Dream, the guests might get a little jittery from all the sequencers. 

^^Neither am I so brave as you supposed! That's why I'm trying to find mellower songs, which are at least prog related, but will not hurt our guests' ears

btw, in the forthcoming wedding I will probably not play the songs to the in-laws, because my wife has quite a few relatives that could attend to my wedding in my hometown... Have I mentioned she's from Moldova!?!? Most of her relatives live in several parts of the ex-Soviet (mainly in Russia I suppose) and even if they come, they will be welcome in the church ceremony, which will be held in Istanbul. Oh, maybe I will be so bold to play some Christian-related prog there, too

Actually what makes me brave is to play any "foreign" music to my own relatives. Most of them are so tateless in music, that I suppose I will be asked to "stop that f***ing music down" and play something to "dance" (play, as Turks name!) in the traditional Turkish way in a few minutes

hmm, I'm listening to Tangerine Dream now, let me think what will happen if I play that at my wedding

Maybe I can find some danceable tracks in Six Wives of Henry VIII. In this case, I will never tell the title of the album (at least in Turkish), otherwise it may freak my wife out!!!!

I would suggest something with a church organ sound. Return to Vevey - a bonus track on Going for the One. Maybe something-else by Rick Wakeman? ... not very danceable though!

Yet, as we are not native English speakers (and most of our guests will be not at all English speakers!) we don't care much about the lyrics! Other Marillion songs (Lavender etc) seem good, though...
VdGG!?!?!? They have some suitable songs, though (out of my book, house with no door, still life ??) but proggy ones will not work!
My rule of thumb: If I love it, the guests will hate it!
The same is true for La Rossa!
"Eyewitness" part of Plague of Lighthouse Keepers would be great, though! wish I could find such an edit...

Lastly: thanks to you and Gentle Ronnie for Genesis suggestions. There's plenty of suitable dance songs in their discography! I wonder why I couldn't think of it in the first place...

How many forum members from Turkey other than me you met so far, for heaven's sake!?!?!? Not to mention the closest one to prog in my family (also in my wife's) is my mother, whose fave bands was Beatles when she was young! This also counts for other rock styles. I just wanna give them something they can dance with, but stick onto prog, at least prog bands (and at least those who did prog at one stage of their lives) while doing this!

Otherwise I will have to listen stupid folk dance songs all over my wedding

P.S. My mother is closer to prog not because of Beatles, but because she enjoys some of my records, mainly instrumental ones (I left all my LP's in my hometown) e.g. TD's Ricochet!

I heard this the other way round: one reviewer who reviewed "Pawn Hearts" said "don't play it with a girl with whom you're planning to get laid" etc... Thankfully my wife has already heard plenty of VdGG by now!!! Not to mention she hates most of the prog
Besides, sleeping on the couch playing VdGG would be a present, rather than punishment to me My stereo (which is merely 12 Watts or so) is in the living room and I cannot hear it from the bedroom!
