I am a life-long music student - and have been in pro bands (ie, we got paid...), but mainly have only made music because I have to since age 4 or so. For whatever reason, I cannot leave music alone - I have to write, write about, play, study and listen to it as much as possible
I'm currently working with a work colleague who owns a PC/Sony Acid-based studio, around 11 keyboards, an Antares box and 2 Pod XT Pros.
We're getting better...

I have been a pro and semi pro musician for the past 20 years working
for prog and non prog bands as both band member and crew. I play a few
instuments and have my own studio and I'm currently in a prog band.
Wouldn't mind learning the Chapman Stick but right now, I don't have
the cash.
I use Pro Tools, Cool Edit Pro (and excellent editor IMO - Utah Man ) as my main software.

Theremin ! That is Cool
"crappy recording program" = ?
So I know what NOT to use...
I use Cool Edit Pro & Cool Edit 2000. Very good software. It was produced by a company called Syntrillium, but I think they got bought out by Adobe.

wanna-be pro, and an at-home-messing-'round-in-my-spare-time player
bass, i can noodle around with guitars and piano based instruments but i wouldnt dare claim i can play at all.
at the moment its all for fun, but myself and a few friends are planning to get serious later this year, and with how much time i already devote to music, its going to be pretty serious.

Are you a professional musician, semi-pro, wanna-be pro, or an at-home-messing-'round-in-my-spare-time player ?
Have you recorded your own compositions ? Got samples online ?
What instrument(s) do you play ?
What instrument(s) do you wish you could play ?
Do you play Prog or another type ?
