Prog fans are the most adventurous music fans in the world: they can listen not only to Sympho Prog, but also to Neo-Prog, Prog Metal, Proto-Prog, Crossover Prog, Prog Related...
Prog fans have a solid musical culture: they have the whole Beatles discography, the whole Rush discography, and they even know some stuff by Mozart. Foreigner is the most underrated prog band. |

Brain Salad Surgery set the benchmark for restraint and good taste in Prog. Would that King Crimson and Genesis had followed suit.

Kansas is not prog because they grow corn in Kansas. Did Steven Wilson offer to redo Kansas music, no because of the corn. Corn/Prog......not happening.

Pfff, amateur. Try this: - Prog only got better in the 2000's thanks to one-man prog-metal acts done with ProTools (and Djent rules supreme); - You're not a true prog fan if you're not a libertarian brony complaining about hip-hop/rap music; - Rush is better than Bach and Miles Davis together. |

For any music lover, PROG is the most wondrous music in the whole world of music, ever!, instead of being just another remarkable music genre.

Stevie Wonder was for a long time the secret member of Gryphon. His oboe playing was out of this world.

Prog music came about from an old (unknown) rock band where the guitarist could never remember his blues chords so he made things up, the drummer could not keep a rhythm to save his life, and the bassist read a really good book that he wanted to sing about.

Modern progressive rock bands are a bunch of pathetic wannabes, and even a fourth-rate band from the Seventies is waaaaay better than the best modern band. |

There's no boring music, the point is you should keep trying to get its message, there is NO complexity in music that you can't get after a demanding amount of listening time. Edited by Rick Robson - January 06 2015 at 05:34 |

Conspiracy theory #2 regarding the mastermind Alan Parsons and his productions schemes.
Almost exactly 40 years following the release of Dark Side of the Moon, The Raven that Refused to Sing was released, also with the engineering of Alan Parsons. Just as Dark Side of the Moon was written as a companion soundtrack for The Wizard of Oz, if you play Steven Wilsons's most recent solo album simultaneously with Gene Kelly's hit film Singin' in the Rain, you will actually hear a raven sing. |

What I like is the best, what you like sucks and isn't music. Unless you like what I like.
