The postal service in Romania is awful, like any other public service there. In France, both the public mail and the private courriers work quite fine, I haven't had any problems so far.

I never had problems with "Serpost"
I received at least 60 CD's during the last 4 years and always complete and with a reasonable delay. Seems that at least Peruvian Post works well. Iván

I don't recall having any problems with the USPS. But I have had problems with services in some other countries.

I equate the USPS and private companies like UPS and FedEx or whatever you like in terms of how good they perform. Sure, I've had problems with the USPS, but I've had problems with the others as well. And, really, I use the USPS alot more often, so percentage wise they are probably better.

As I said before, I still thing USPS is rather decent. But maybe, as I've said in the libertarian thread many times before, is because the service in my country is so horrible that I'm still baffled at the US' version's efficiency.
They should have more employees in their offices though... There's always a line. ![]() |

Our US postal service has cost us almost $150.
Wonder if they'll let us take it out of our student loans. ![]() |

I've never had a problem with our post. There will always be a place for package delivery. Letter post? The future seems less bright except for those specific cases where hard signatures are required on docs.

I agree, I've only had one instance of a lost package in the mail, and UPS did a thorough job making sure I was refunded for the order and kept informed on the status of the package.

Send it through private companies.
I use UPS for anything besides letters. The sole problem I had was quickly followed by a refund and multiple apologies. I've also worked for them before. Grade A company. |

Is it just me or am I the only one who spots this trend with a steady decline in the mail and package delivery system ? In this day and age + with insane high mail and package sending prices, you should expect that letters and packages delivery is more reliable than ever. They even have bar codes now on packages. But no. My national package services has managed to loose three corpses/bodies from Australia. Their whereabouts are unknown. Not in the same league, but I get a lot of tidbits and remarks from indiependent artists and bands who loose some packages they are sending out to their customers. Several artists has actually closed their webshops now due to this issue. Due to the postage services, and I use "service" here in a very liberal meaning of the word, is so unreliable that it cannot be trusted. Those of you in USA can use FedExpress and UPS. Those networks are not that big here in Europe though and their collection depots somewhere in faraway locations. In short; this is another nail in the coffin of the distribution and retailing of music CDs, LPs, cassettes and DVDs. Are we all being forced over to broadbands, music downloads, computers and external harddrives ? Any comments ?
