Wow! Another one.

I`ve played drums for years as well as faked it on piano (we have two ) , Guitar  (  I have an old Squire Strat I plug in from time to time as well as an Ibanez acoustic). In high school I played tuba and trombone. I`ve played in a few jazz bands as well as a brief stint in a Black Sabbath  cover band. Although I really don`t play that much anymore but If  I`m in a pub that has an open jam I`ll get up. I recently helped some kids get a metal band together which was fun. These kids could actually play.
My wife is an accomplished classical musician and teacher and is currently working on her PHD. She specializes in voice and early music. Her principal instrument is  Sackbut an early version of the trombone. She plays all kinds of other weird instruments as well. You should hear her do Hocus Pocus  but she`ll only do it after a few drinks.
I have two Australian Cattle dogs who also try and play the piano and guitar but no recording contracts are forthcoming.

That's a great definition Arcer 'Professional Messer'.

professional messer...

played in bands all through my 20s and early 30s but now just don't have the time and am too damn old...

I still tinker around at home using all the equipment stored up over the years..

mostly...

Cubase, Sound Forge, Recycle, Reason, Fruity Loops to record

plus FM7, B4, Pro53, ImpOscar, Elektrik Piano, M-Tron, Garritan Personal Orchestra, Roland JV1010 with keys of 60s and 70s for synths and sounds

plus

Fender Telecaster, Hohner ST57 and ST59, Epiphone G1275 double neck, Yamaha FG365se 6 string acoustic, Tanglewood 12 string, Vintage AMG1 dobro, some dodgy old mandolin, a dodgy old Cimar (Ibanez) bass.

a bunch of old drum machines, stomp boxes, etc

A Vox AC30 and a Fender Stage 112SE though I use a lot of modelling processors like the Korg AX1000G for guitar sounds.

Plus a bunch of (mostly freeware) effects plug-ins.

And I still haven't finished a damn thing!

How many of you guys want some feedback - "objective criticism" - in addition to Jethro Fish ?
Not that my opinion is all that important...

Anyway...Here's some samples of personal stuff I made many years ago...unfortunately its not in the progressive genre

http://64.176.30.83/music.htm

Please let me know:
1. If it downloaded OK (mp3 format)
2. Your "review"

Thank you all for your time.

I will be checking out my esteemed forum colleague's work this very evening.

BTW, do tell if the link doesn't work.

I tried to check the link you provided Sigod, but I can't get it to shut down, I'm forever trapped in that ugly site, remind me never to go there again I'll have to shut down my computer and start anew, hate when these things happen

I don't blame you Sigod, no let me refrase, I do blame you Sigod

Oh Tuxon, you wound me so with your verbal batterings....

Well, we've remixed "Grey", which I know you've heard, Reed, so as soon as I get home I'll post a new Yousendit link (they only stay "live" for 7 days, which is why the links in the Collaborator's pages aren't working anymore, James!).

I can't do this from work, because they've blocked Yousendit as a P2P loophole . I'm only trying to send MY OWN WORK

Still... I have sent the odd piece of footwear in the past

Looking forward to all those Yousendit links here!

>Good Stuff, James

I've been pretending to make music for decades...my first love is guitar, but I also have half-decent voice, bass, and keyboard skills (and a fascination for making noises with exotic instruments and electronic gadgets).

I used to play in bands quite a bit in my high school/ college days, but since then it's just been me and the PC. I use Sonar and Cubase as my main software, with Sound Forge for editing, and a buttload of plug-ins. I can also waste amazing amounts of time programming bizarre synth sounds (if I ever get a big old modular synth I may completely vanish from the outside world ).

Only the elite few can access these pages JamesLee!!!Embarrassed

So THAT'S why the record companies aren't knocking down my door...I knew it wasn't just my sloppy playing, weak songwriting, and poor production skills.

Here they are for the masses, then:

Jack Straw (Dead cover)

an original piano piece

Pretty Mary Microscope
