There are several aspects to this topic (as to anything in this world, by the way).
If talking about complexity, I find Art Zoyd and many other RIO bands to be very complex and difficult listening. However Art Zoyd are one of my favorite bands (except for their latest works, especially "Metropolis", which is just noise lasting 2 and a half hours). Same goes to Russian composer Alfred Schnitke - brilliant, but so so difficult.
If talking about bizzare music - I find some of Zappa's works very difficult, also many of Kraut rock bands etc
If talking about other difficulties - I can mention highly estimable and loveable double albums by Flower Kings. Same goes to Neal Morse's "Testimony", which I consider one of the best albums of last year, however I find it difficult to listen from start to end in one go.
And on the last degree of difficulty to listen is music which I just do not like - hunreds of bands and albums, and I would not waste your time to name any of them here.

Here is my review of one of my hardest listening experiences.
FAUST The Faust Tapes
Review (Permanent link) by Sead S. Fetahagic @ 10:25:37 AM EST, 6/28/2005
PROG REVIEWER
2 stars — "The Faust Tapes" is even more difficult to rate because it was and still is for me one of the hardest listening experiences. Probably THE hardest. The original vinyl record sleeve was a ordinary plastic bag depicting a saturated green photo of a ugly idiot-looking male face shouting (or yawning) with red eyes, perfectly matching the craziness of the sound contained therein. This is basically a pastiche of sounds and electronic noise, with one exceptional moment - "Flashback Caruso", which is quite listenable. The rest is a pure headache. As mad as it may sound, this album of nonsense has a sort of appeal and attraction, but you must be a bit deranged (like myself, ha, ha) to like it. Minimum 10 years of prog listening experience is prerequisite! Approach with extreme caution! Although I give only 2 stars, it is basically a category of its own and very much - unrateable (if this is a correct English).

Total agreement on Mr Bungle there.
As far as lps that are hard to sit through in their entirety, I would say Tales of Topographic Oceans. That one is just too long and the music isn't interesting enough to keep the listener's attention.

Meshuggah minus "future breed machine" and a few other tracks from DEI are pretty hard to listen to. At least for me. Whie they have alot of time changes, I think they could be a sh*tload more creative with their writing and their riffs. Everyone in that band pretty much is the drummer's bitch. They need some serious diversity and variation, not some some serious repetition in the songwriting and riffs.

Limbus 4 - Mandalas.
Not that I consider it to be a masterpiece; my personal opinion is it is rather amateurish; there is one moment where suddenly a whining flute begins which always makes me fall off the chair laughing.
Side 3 and 4 of "Concerts" by Henry Cow.
Nothing else comes to my mind, though I have a lot of VERY bizarre stuff, but somehow I can listen to it without any problems. The records of Anima or "Beziehungen" by Annexus Quam are definitely extremely bizarre, but I can listen to them quite easily.

I Love The Mars Volta, but something about them just wears me out after 30 minutes. I end up knowing the first half of their CDs really well !

MAGMA is delicious! There was not a single MAGMA album so far that has
not truly impressed me! I find all Canterbury/RIO hard to listen to ...
and yes ... Klaus Schulze and his followers -- especially when the
music is just not going anywhere.
Oh, and I have a special dislike for "Scenes from Memory ..." I can't
listen to it at all -- I simply get disgusted with the lyrics and stop the sound. Although
all the rest of DT albums are highly enjoyable. Even "Train of Thought".
And then I find it hard to listen to Savior Machine (not that I am
going to listen to it for the second time): I despise religion and the
band is a bunch of Christian fanatics praising Mr Jesus in their songs
... Besides, their music is really dull -- I would fall asleep
listening to them if their constant mentioning of the J. word did not
wake me up from my doze every couple of minutes.
