I love pre-season baseball, and the first two months of the season are the best, because after that the Tigers are usually eliminated and it doesn't really matter any more.

I can see that.
I always enjoy watching but I guess I don't really get excited over the early season either. Season is so damn long.

I actually enjoy preseason football, but I can't stand spring training games. Reading the reports is good enough for me.

I actually was treated to some Spring training baseball at work yesterday on MLB network. I got to watch part of the Dodgers/White Sox game. Kershaw is looking good already

Oh and really, the Phillies should have quite a year.
No way to know how it'll translate into real life, but under 100 wins for them have to be a disappointment.

A bit back on a station here, he was comparing the '11 Phillies pitching staff to the Braves of the early 90's and how they are at least equal, plus the offense. Quite a scary team.

Amazing what happens when a team spends money! Wink

Too early to call Yankees as WS Champions?
Wait, of course not.

I think the Tigers are going to surprise some people this year.

The Cardinals announced today that Adam Wainwrights 'Tommy John' surgery went well. How can it be known until he actually can pitch off a mound?

Yeah everyone around here is giddy with anticipation.  Games have been selling out quickly.

Indeed, every now and then they can throw a CG and give the relief a break.  Tongue

Chad Durbin is gone!!!!!!
He went 4-1 with a 3.80 ERA in 64 games as a key contributor last season for the National League East champions.

He earned $2 million as a fungible middle reliever. We have a bunch of identical guys ready to start in the majors. He was delaying their development and being overpaid.
LOL  Must be nice to have an embarrassment of riches within a pitching staff.  I'd kill to have a middle reliever with an ERA under 5.00.  Durbin was actually a pretty decent pitcher for the Tigers when he was here in 2007.

Don't even need them.  Starter goes 7, Madson, Lidge.  C'est tout.  Cool

Wow, I hadn't heard about that.

It seemed just like yesterday that he was pitching for that other also-ran team the KC Royals.
