Well, Yanks played well but what can ya do.
Hughes better step up though. A two inning, 6 run outing is unacceptable. Especially against a team that hasn't been able to make runs if the umps let em start on third...

Good riddance juicer.

Also it appears Manny is done being Manny, but he's going out in typical fashion!

Was facing a 100 game suspension for some violation of drug policy, so he's decided to retire.

Godspeed Manny, I'll always remember you as the a****le who was a great hitter, until you decided to take 5 seconds to run to base and fall sick with "mysterious illnesses" Good player though

God Hughes really doomed us today. The hitting has been great from the start, and Colon in relief has been right on, but such a hole to dig out of.
This is his second game with velocity pretty down and bad looking stuff.

Ah well, I always hold hope to the end. They always have the ability to slug out of any deficit.

Because each player has only about  24 plate appearances. BABIP is incredibly variant in that sample size as well as every statistic. You may as well ask why a coin came up on heads after one throw.

I would like to see that as well. I liked it when Tony LaRussa walked out of a press conference because he couldn't find anymore ways to answer the same question that was asked 4 times. Why are the Cardinals bats sluggish?

Jays lost yesterday.  No offense but the pitching was good on both sides.  They've won their first 2 series, and now we face Vernon Wells and his new team on the west coast.

Sad but true. At least we got some recent memories of WS glory and rings. It's highly unlikely that any Cub fan was around the last time that they tasted a WS Championship.

Red Sox 0 and 6?

Big smile (But make that 1000X bigger)

Hope it maintains. I am a bit worried, the Sox have been on poor streaks before and playing the Yankees "woke" them up. Hope we keep em down
Edit: If they do end up getting their mojo back it won't so much be their doing but Phil Hughes' instead.
Yanks are hitting but he keeps giving out runs like cracker jacks.

The Pirates are leading the NL wildcard and the Red Sox are without a win. Small sample sizes are fun. If the Red Sox completely tanked this season I'd be a very happy man though.

EDIT: Red Sox about to drop another one.

Jays won 5-3 last night, but I'm concerned about Yunel Escobar.  Stretching a double into a triple, he collided with the thrid baseman's knee, and he may have a concussion. Unhappy

And he's not going to be dressed for the next 2 games either.  Personal matter of some sort and not an injury.

Toronto 7
Oakland 6 (10 innings)

Fought back from down 5-0 to take it to extras.  Jason Frasor gives up a solo HR in top of 10th (gets credit for the win), but Yunel Escobar hits a 2 run homer to end it.

The A's made plenty of errors to help us, but I'm still impressed by the win nonetheless.  Much more aggression on the base paths so far.

Girardi has a rep for "over managing" games. While I think that is mostly a created issue, he did over manage today.

CC had a 2 hitter through 7, and allowed no runs. Only at 100 pitches.
Took him out???
For anyone who doesn't know CC is a workhorse. He goes into the 120s and 130s all the time, with no issue. No pitch counts, he just goes. Kinda like Charlie Sheen. Was stupid to take him out.

That is cool.  It sounded like the crowd was really into the game from the get go.  Our announcers were saying that the Orioles had the best record in the East since Showalter was hired, so there is hope.  It would be nice to see the Orioles be competitive in the East this year.
