Yeah, predicting the Giants has been utterly worthless.
Like I said, we have our d line of monsters, Eli, Nicks and Cruz. That alone is good, if we can get that sh*tty o line fixed up and the back 7 a bit better we'll be awwwwright I say!

Well season is on gents.
Needless to say hoping for a sweet victory over those damned Cowboys.

Speaking of division winners, does anyone have any predictions for all the division winners this year? I'm eager to see if MoM mans up again and posts his predictions first. It's a tough act to follow after all.

I would be happy with this year's team if I were a Giants fan. You guys still have a few small pieces you could potentially add (assuming you count things like "a third wide receiver" as one), but overall I'd have to think they're favorites in the NFC this year. Now watch them finish third in their division because I said that. LOL

As for the Bengals, I think the o-line still has a bit to do in terms of timing and teamwork on certain plays, but they've improved steadily every week during the preseason. In the second game when they played who-knows-because-no-one-care-about-the-preseason, they had so many injuries on their d-line that I don't think they rotated anyone out at all during that game. And they all became somewhat sluggish after the 3rd or 4th defensive series. But 2 of the main 3 guys who were injured should be good to go when the first regular season game rolls around.

I'm still waiting for the day when no one can get away with saying that the Pats are the favorites in the AFC this year. Mostly because 1) I think it was laughably untrue last year and 2) I still see similar issues they had with their defense last year. Although I guess if you get to the Super Bowl and you're a favorite, that's not too bad.

I think if Dalton gets enough protection, and the defense is as good as it looks on paper, we might have a shot at the division this year. I definitely think we'll make it past the wild card/first round in the playoffs this year however.

Bump

Because it's time
FOR FOOTBALL.

This is the pre season where starters will actually get into the 3rd quarter before they all get benched for next week.
Than it's finally time for the real deal!

Soooooo thoughts?
I've stopped trying to predict the Giants, but why the hell not?
Need to do some rebuilding, but they at least got the right pieces...we shall see how it unfolds.
I expect a decent but not great year.

In the mean time, still got Tuck, Osi, Jpp the Haitian Sensation, and forgotten Kiwanuka who's a pretty damn solid rusher. The back 7 will hopefully not repeat last years debacle for 14 games...

On the flip: That o line has to get in shape ASAP but at least we have Eli, who should have another great year. I think he's finally reached plateau. After last year nothing should cause him to falter anymore.
I'm realistically excited

Eli on SNL was pretty good I thought........better than most athletes who try it......Except for Charles Barkley, he owns SNL as an athlete.
The Eli skit in the courtroom was pretty funny.

Talking about morbid curiosity.....interested in the Tampa deal with Jordan Jefferson from LSU, big kid, strong arm and fast....I am sure they are looking at a wildcat offense with him.

Don't the Steelers prove you don't need a good coaching staff to win championships?

They did manage to overcome Cowher's schottenheimer disease once and Arian's have-no-idea-what-I'm-f**king-doing disease once.  I don't think highly of Tomlin but I don't think he's a bad coach.  Trusting your coordinators is fine if you can hire capable ones.  His major mistake was letting Arians hang around when he was clearly hapless.  Frankly, I have no idea what Tomlin does during games because he's not calling offensive plays (background as a defensive coach, and all) and Lebeau has total control on the defensive side.  Mostly just stands there looking like Omar Epps in House.

I'm content knowing that Bungles fans are fine with Marvin.  Hope they stay that way.  The cheapshot at Ben is off topic and does nothing to advance Dalton's woth, by the way.  I do think Dalton is a good QB.  One that would be better off playing under a coach that fostered growth instead of enabling destruction....  (Here's your return cheap shot): Why, just ask Chris Henry if he'd have been better off without all Marvin's help.

At least Andy Dalton has enough class to not rape college girls in bathrooms. Tongue

But seriously, if he keeps developing the way he is, and they give him enough pieces (which it seems like they're trying), he's going to have a hell of a career as a QB.

Also, I've given Marvin garbage when he deserves it, but the guy is clearly worthy of being a head coach in the NFL. He's a great defensive mind too. He just has to compete in the same division as the Steelers and the Ravens.

Indeed. The Bungels I think are definitely on the rise. At least they are putting themselves in a very good position.

Yeah, I think the players we let go either had underperformed or were starting to get up there in years. I think they took the best pure cornerback this year in Dre Kirkpatrick, even if he does have some physical issues (like needing to put on a bit more weight), but given he's one of Nick Saban's kids, I think he's pretty much NFL-ready material, as well as Devon Still.

Honestly, I'm really happy with how the Bengals have drafted for the last 2 years. They're setting themselves up for a good decade's-worth of success. And I never thought I'd see this team do that.

Morbid curiosity (and a bit of hero worship) had to see the Eli Manning SNL opening.
It was actually less painful and awkward than I imagined, they must've spent a whole day working it!

But damn, he is not charismaticLOL I give him kudos for trying and at least he doesn't sound like a redneck like Peyton

Well I guess that report was correct, lacrosse is on the up and up...and Texas is the football mecca of America so maybe all hope is lostLOL When all the current NFL players are retired the sport shall die and lacrosse becomes our new national hobby.

Because NASCAR is #2 and we don't want that taking the crown

Well it is a good point for parents to have their kids avoid football for injury reasons.....not only concussions but the severe breaking of bones or even death from head collisions.
I coach lacrosse and my kids do play, it is probably one of the greatest sports to play. Probably the fastest sport on two feet.....Still have the possibility of concussion, it is a contact sport once you get past the 6th grade.

Texas is becoming the mecca of lacrosse for crossover players from football......Plus the chances of attending college is pretty high, and good schools too.
NCAA lacrosse players are some of the highest % graduating athletes with degrees and some of the most succesful beyond school.

And around here youth football is pretty selective, its a club sport and usually only the coaches friends kids play a lot..I have families who tried it and hated it beacuse of all the favoritism being played.....I am sure that is not everywhere, but our lacrosse club has almost doubled in size the past 2 years.

I'm happy!

I think the Giants will be fine at LB honestly.

Yeah...pretty sure the few times I ever hear his name is "why does this guy suck?"
Sad thing is if he's OK it may be a step up from some of what we have, but gawd....might as well keep it home brewed when you resort to picking up Keith Rivers

I think the Bengals dropped some players they were glad to see go on the Cowboys and Giants.

And speaking of Bengals, we finally addressed some need at LB by taking Keith Rivers off your hands.
Can't say I follow the Bengals but him I know, isn't he a bust?
Or was he just average after other worldly expectations? Either way a 5th rounder given up...guess it's not too bad if he flops.
