Chris Squire - Fish Out Of Water

Dexter Wansel - Life On Mars A few words to discribe such pleasant listen, elegant sound, relaxing melodies, sweet vocals, sci-fi ambient music. "Theme for the Planets" and "Stargazer" (It has resemblances with Soft Machine's Nettle Bed tune) are my favourites pieces. Really groovy one! Tymon, thank you very much for this recommendation. Approve

Lard Free - Lard Free Excellent album, nice sax and synthetizer, I like it! I'll definitely check their other records. Tymon, thanks again! Thumbs Up

Masada - Live in Sevilla 2000

Let's hope, for your sake, that I'll like that album LOL It's not prioritary though, I still have to get the third and fourth album before that one.

Sounds like a strange place to put on some Schulze. Did someone go nuts because of it? Tongue

First vacation day, I had a nice time at the beach:
Can - Future Days (I think this has become a tradition Big smile)
Marillion - Brave (First time I listened to an Hogarth era album. It's really good Thumbs Up)

And had some quality time with my turntable:
Triumvirat - Spartacus (An unfairly forgotten album in my collection. I'm starting to think this is better than most ELP's classic stuff Smile)
Peter Gabriel - PG 2 (Certainly worse than the previous one but not bad.)
Pristine - Detoxing (Hammond sweet Hammond Approve)

Hey Sam. It's exactly what Michael said, 'UP is PG's best solo album. ' I also think PG 1&2 aren't that memorable certainly PG 3: Melt and SO are far better in my estimation. Also, check out New Blood. A full blown Orchestra tied to many PG classics. Don't quit on PG yet!
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Today/tonight's set list

Oceans of Slumber-- Winter (2016 is more than half way through and their isn't much better than this one for me...still waiting on that Nephilim album to over take it. )

Alcest-- Les Voyages de l'Ame ( a French Agalloch band. ;)

DIO-- Dream Evil ( I'm a bit addicted to this one. Very good album. )

Rainbow-- Rising ( Stargazer! Boy, if I had to choose a song I wish I could sing as well as DIO on it would be this one. ;)

Vangelis-- 1492: conquest of paradise ( truly one of his best and most heart felt. Absolutely love it. )

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Tymon, I'm glad you liked it, and you're welcome! Wink

^Great list, Jose. Sometimes you just gotta come back home, eh? Man, thanks for your recommendation on the following one.
Osanna - Palepoli Very, very good album. I think its multi-layeredness is one of its strongest points. Someone  compared it to a bustling street, which I find to be a perfect analogy. It is perfect at being pastoral and heavy alike with everything in between. Once again, thanks.
I also started Universal Totem Orchestra - The Magus, but it's very long, will continue tomorrow and give further thoughts, if anyone will be interested.
I was also at The BBC Proms festival. The orchestra played Bartok (Heart), Malcolm Hayes, and Dvorak's 7th Symphony, which has quickly become one of my favorites from him and the romantic era overall. Amazing night!
Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

I was feeling Floyd-ish today. I listened to Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, and Atom Heart Mother in that order. It was a non-working, cloudy day, so right after I decided to sit through a documentary.Big smile

I'll have to keep that in mind. This was enough PG for a month.

Yeah, I noticed that. I unconsciously payed less attention in the middle and focused again in the end Tongue

They are not ELP clones, just an improved version Wink The debut is easily my favourite as well. I unfairly dismissed "Pictures at an Exhibition" because it's a live album, watching Carl Palmer perform the whole album last April made me aware of that. I really need to get that one.

`Up' is amazing, Sam, I don't think Gabriel has ever made a better solo album than it. I've never bothered too much with his first four solo discs. I have the first two, and while I liked them, I just never found them interesting enough to bother returning to.

I find Marillion's `Brave' a bit of a slog. It's great at the start and end, but grinds to a halt in the middle. I also can't stomach that `Hard as Love' song, even the title makes me cringe! I've always found `Afraid of Sunlight' far superior.

HELL YES `Spartacus' is possibly better than many of the classic ELP discs....or at least it's more consistent, and it doesn't have the garbage goofball tracks that most of the ELP ones have. I don't think ELP ever made a better album than their debut (although `Pictures at an Exhibition' would be the next best one for me).

PFM - Per Un Amico Very, very nice. This album really highlights all of the elements of classic prog rock and really belongs among the classic albums like In the Court or Close to the Edge, for me at least.

Bubu - Anabelas Amazing band and an amazing album! Bubu's compositions and instrumentalism are really out of this world. Each listen (so far) reveals so many new elements.

Peter Gabriel-- UP ( Hey Sam. Get your hands on this one. If you don't like it I will eat my most expensive amplifier bit by bit. )

The Beach Boys-- Pet Sounds ( listened to this one in stereo PCM 24/192k, MONO 24/192k and DTS 5.1 surround 24/96k master audio. Holy crap! Also, the production and various uses of many different instruments makes this album sound a bit like a crossover prog album. So brilliant. Love that Brian Wilson. What a Homerun he hit in 1966. Just 24 years old too. Unreal. )

OSI-- S/T ( so brilliant. Introduced this album to many at work today and they all loved it. ;)

Black Sabbath-- Master Of Reality ( still my favourite sabbath album. )

Dream Theater-- Black Clouds & silver linings ( some of the guitar solos Petrucci pulls off on this album is absolute bonkers. I still feel though this album works better as an instrumental album, especially for a track like Wither. )

Oceans of Slumber-- Blue ( EP) ( I can't get over how good Cammie Gilbert's vocals are. She is a new hero of mine)

Peter Gabriel-- SO 25th ann box set ( really love the live in Athens discs of 1987. Most redeeming part of the box set. The remaster by David Bottril is a tad too bright for my liking on the SO album itself, but sounds much better with less analytical headphones/amps. ;)

DIO-- Dream Evil ( my favourite DIO album. Sometimes you just gotta crank Sunset Superman. ;)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Just one today. Jukka Tolonen - Tolonen! If you are unfamiliar with Jukka Tolonen, he is probably the best known Finnish prog guitarist, performing with acts such as Tasavallan Presidenti and Wigwam. This is his first solo effort (which he recorded when he was just 19 years old) and it's such an incredibly mature effort. It's very jazzy, with some great flute and saxophone parts, but of course, the main attraction is Jukka's phenomenal guitar playing.
Also parts of Magma's K.A. and Area's outstanding Arbeit Macht Frei.
I visited some record stores on Soho (Reckless Records and Sister Ray). Sadly, many prices are very high, but I found a few nice deals, which I will hopefully come back for. I saw original Phaedra for 6 pounds in VG+ condition and also Ricochet on CD for 3 pounds. There were many prog records, but most of them were overpriced, which is kind of a shame.
