From what I understand, these prog specials are printed in about 20.000 copies, and if all sold probably read by about 40.000 initially.

Number of printed copies came forth in a discussion at ProgEars, and I know that magazines, like newspapers, are usually read by more people than the ones buying it. What the estimates are on this kind of publication I don't know though. But an average of 2 readers pr. copy is usually regarded as a safe assumption.

Excellent news Max....and so this site should be included. I doubt there's a more collective knowledge of prog anywhere on the planet.

I'm sure I have, try  Real Groovy or Whitcoulls. Are you in a major town? if so just keep looking, I'm certain I've seen it.
By the way, I noticed you've got Amon Duul II on your list, where did you go to get it? I tried to order at real groovy from an Aussie distributor but got nowhere.

Maybe a tasteful photo of - for the sake of argument - a popular forum member on a night out in London with an 80s neo prog album cover in the picture? Wink

Ironically, Dan (From The Tea Club) and I recently had a conversation about this site's influence, and them getting featured Ihere really helped them get recognition and respect in the Prog Community. This bit of news is just further proof of this site's status among Prog lovers!!!

amen...  that was an addition I was very proud of myself.. the more so when Raff and I got their album and saw how that great music was put on a site where it belonged and where hopefully people might discover it.. which is why we put that group as one of the obscure and unknown gems of the site.

It'll be fun to see if the article has any impact when it's on print. What reach the mag has in general, and what reach these special prog editions may have in particular, should bear witness to that in the number of visitors here.

I know that prog fans left, right and centre are buying the mag for support, but the important factor here is the number of people getting it not involved or in the know I'd say.

It's good for the site to get noticed indeed; and that it is deemed important. Question is if people not already in the know will learn about it - for me that is the most vital issue really.

Spreading the word ;-)

maybe CR will employ some of our people to research and expand  their product hahhah.

How's that for an idea M@X....  a nice expansion for the site hahhah.  In PRINT.....offer the services of your genre teams and specialists to put together articles and album recommendations for the magazine.  Hell...even as editors so people are not left wondering just how Steve Howe got that great guitar tone on Time and a Word LOL
