For the life of me, I still can't figure out what about PE is cliquish. Maybe that's just a sign I'm hopelessly a member of the clique.

Hey all!
Sean from PE here. I was searching for some old stuff about PE
on Google today and ran across this fresh stuff so I thought I would sign up
for the first time and say Hi! I want to thank any and
all of you that take the time to frequent PE.
I have always felt it was a good prog two-fer with PA and I am glad many
of you agree. And for those of you that
dont, I can totally understand and I wish you the best regardless! It amazes me that PE & PA continue to endure these days despite the likes of other social networks like FB, Twitter, etc. It shows that people still need places to go deep with subjects rather than spit out short little bits like you do on those sorts of sites. Glad we can still be a part of your lives some 15+ years on even in this social network dominated world.

Hello Sean, It is great to see your post above here on PA, it is really awesome :) in terms of PA as a site too. Thank for all you said, loved it, you are so lovely and a big hug to you xxxx

Exactly why I donīt visit PA that much anymore. So I guess itīs not only PE that has that problem... |
I think you both are misunderstood and also misunderstand others. People are grumpy by nature this is a fact, but either way you two should not give up, I didn't and God knows I was completely misunderstood here on PA, PE not so much to be honest although I did not frequent it very much, thus PA can be very grumpy too. I simply ignore that and actually started to like the grumpies even more than other members lol they very so funny and witty lol Any this topic is about PE, and I like PE.

Agreed with the first part... Part jokingly, of course, but PE'ers love to joke about themselves being the snob's snob in the knighthood of progginess.
As said before, the vibe is different over there, but uptight is really not a word I'd use to describe PE's.
Self-importance is another matter, however: the general answer on the "Is Prog better due to PA/PE?" (started by PE owner Sean, after seeing the question posed here) have certainly more assertive (positive) than here, but maybe they didn't catch the subtlety or "loadedness" of the question

I have not posted much on PE forum, however I did often frequent their radio chatroom, 2 years ago, while we all listened Gagliarchives :) I honestly never took anything personal and once people get used to you they are really nice even to me with all my flaws. On PE they do have a good sense of humour and seem to always be able receive it right back from me thus I have no complaints, I have to say that my experience at start was less dodgy compared to on here at PA (I am completely at home here now and more than PE btw). Anyway, I do like PE a lot, also like all the members I have encountered so far on there too. Hugs to you all .

My favorite quote from a PE member about PA admin/colabs: They come off with this heavy handed approach like they're the High Priests of Syrinx who consult the oracle then return to give the Silly Human Race the absolute truth on what is or is not prog.

Pffft! Everyone knows ABBA is not prog. Perhaps crossover.... |
Hmm, there might be something to PE. |
Hey, ABBA is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, while King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Yes and ELP are not. Obviously, their rock credentials are far stronger; hence, Steven Wilson's infatuation for playing a song like "Dancing Queen" and his persistence in seeking a role in the stage show Mama Mia.

You are not allowed to discuss cults which.. is sad because there are more people on that site who have much more interesting things to say than some of the bogus snobby disagreeable ex-cult members belonging to websites that revolve around the subject itself. Sometimes I read posts from S.R.A. victims and I try to help them with their troubles/triggers. It's based on the knowledge I have from the experience of S.R.A. I've been thanked gracefully by psychologists running the site, however, ironically a host of devil worshipers tend to slam the S.R.A. victims with rude statements. Additionally many skeptics slam them, challenging their history to further prove to everyone on the forum that they are telling lies. For some bizarre reason they are determined to convince the entire world that people have never dressed in black hooded cloaks and tortured children walking home through the woods. But in the meantime, the S.R.A. victims are not showboating some half bent theory for attention... They are merely trying to help each other and instead..they are surrounded by people who don't believe a word they say. You'd be more likely to find the correct person to converse with on this matter from P.E. and sometimes P.A. Sometimes a website that is set up for a special interest attracts the opposing viewpoint that wastes your time. Sometimes you have to look in the less obvious places. |
I haven't checked out P.E. yet, but I'm curious, which site has more posts in which it's assumed everyone knows what you're referring to?Nothing personal, tod, but you've piqued my curiosity about S.R.A.
BTW...wobbly goats forever!!!!!!!!!! |
S.R.A. and the usage of I.M.O. or B.T.W. are all very common today. P.E. and P.A. both attract misfits like myself..Lol!

I use both each day, but rarely post. Registered here earlier, but first started post there. For me PE is a forum while PA is perceived primarily as database. The forum here except several sub-forums and some long-running threads (mostly connected to the database) is of little interest for me.
