Sorry, did the Beatles have a classically trained keyboardist in their ranks ?? ........
As good as they are, their creative 3 minute offerings can't top the amazing Charterhouse boys......
........would read better.....

I really don't like The Beatles, despite being brought up with them. I no longer possess a single album by them.

Genesis by far. One of the truly great bands.

I like the Beatles and their significance for rock music, including prog, is undeniable. Yet they cannot beat Genesis for me.

Amazing, the Beatles are beating (no pun intended, but now that it's there... LOL ) Genesis while I write this!
I like the Beatles and they are the most important pop/rock - band in history, but I like Genesis much more.

Some of the Beatles' accolades are highly exaggerated, but no doubt they were innovators and incredible songwriters...well...three of them were Tongue

Beatles gets my vote, they were the first experimenting with many music styles and instruments plus they released the track I hate the most called number 9, (it sticks for days in my mind) who does that?

This is cruel...there are only 4 prog bands I would say are as good as the Beatles. Lucky for Genesis, they're one of them What can I say, I know what I like, and I like what I know

It is The Beatles most diverse album, and my favorite. The acoustic tracks in particular are great; in fact, there are so many great acoustic numbers on this album, it could rank high in that category alone. Beyond that, Helter Skelter (Beatle Metal Wink), Piggies (Baroque), Back in the U.S.S.R. (the greatest Beach Boy parody of all time), and Cry Baby Cry are personal favorites. As far as being "prog",  I would say rather that it is their most experimental yet earthy album.

The Beatles forever reign over Genesis of course.

Genesis

The Beatles were important, but so were other 60's rock bands. I would also like to point out that genesis made "real" concept albums.

No one, not even Leon Spinks, beats the Beatles.
