I was a little put off by Voyage 34 at first... it was one of the first PT pieces of music that I bought. I actually ended up finding it used at a mall about an hour from where Ilive. There are no CD stores in the town where I live, and the closest one (about 40 minutes away) only carries The Incident...
The version I bought was the remastered The Complete Trip compilation with the Lasse Hoile photography that includes Parts 1-4 all remastered. It sounds crystal clear. I didn't like it much at first, but I absolutely love it now.. definitely one of my favorite PT suites as well. I sometimes find it hard to listen to parts 3-4 in their entirety though. So, that's what I think about Voyage 34.

I thought the cover was a little odd, although not bad.
I much prefer the drawing in the center of the booklet of Steve with a guitar, and it also would've fitted onto a CD cover perfectly.
Also, I'd be interested to hear everyone's opinions on Voyage 34... I myself absolutely love part I (in my top 10 PT tracks for sure) although I find it a little strenuous to listen to the entire disc in one sitting.

On sort of a random note-- In regards to American press, Steven has been in two guitar magazines that I own and know of:
1.) A small article about Steven and PT talking about FoaBP and Alex Lifeson's appearance on Anesthetize, which appeared in Guitar World's February 2008 issue with Kirk Hammett on the front cover.
2.) A pretty large interview with Steven appeared in GuitarPlayer's January 2010 issue with Tony Iommi on the front. Steven talked about recording The Incident and his take on playing the guitar, along with the effects he likes to use.
I just thought I'd let you all know about these magazine issues. They're both very good features and if you can find them, I'd say get them for even more inside info. on Steven .

Steven (young) really reminds me of Geddy Lee when he was young... a combination of the glasses, the pale skin and the hair.
BTW, my favorite album cover artwork is probably the debut's. I just love how the man/boy is like flying downward.. it's very cool.... and the dark and yellow background is very fantasy-esque.

Speaking of PTs great artwork, what's your favourite album cover? I really like the Lightbulb Sun design, myself. And In Absentia is a good one, it really creeps me out.
they haven't got a single bad artwork but i especially like the art in fear of a blank planet and the incident. lasse hoile is one of the best modern artists. watch katatonias day and then the shade video.
It looks like Steven has two black holes for eyes Tim Bowness hasn't really changed since that pic though.
Here's another great mid era PT clip:
What's with Steve's Geddy Lee sunglasses, and half-shirt thing, in that vid?
It's awesome to see a clip with Chris on drums. And Colin Edwin hasn't changed at all in ten years! He still has that same hat! Is he an android or a vampire as well?

Yeah, it's a combination of pale, mortuary mask appearance (like Data from Star Trek), the long hair and the black holes... He's a vampire! I KNEW IT ALL ALONG!
So that's how SW gets so many projects done! He's immortal. He's probably been working on No Man, Blackfield, IEM, Porc Tree, etc, for centuries now, and only just released them to the public!

Yes, I prefer the original SD art, to the reissue. It does look like a Sony ad campaign.
The photography in their booklets is still quite interesting. The promotional photos by Lasse Hoile for FOABP and The Incident are creepy and suitably unnerving. I've got a few PC wallpapers of some of the FOABP/Incident promo photos.

JB hifi sure know how to bring me down; nearly every friday I stop by and leave with a CD when I'm usually just planning to walk past straight through to the bus stop
The one which immediately jumps out at me is always Lightbulb Sun, love the grey photo with the glowing orange. The original Stupid Dream art is great, although the art on the remastered packaging looks like a Sony ad Really dislike their new choice of art for that one.
I really love Signify as well. In all honesty, their art has been getting less spectacular over the years for me. UTD through Stupid Dream have amazing art, and IA/Deadwing/The Incident all seem a lot less intriguing and multi-faceted to me.
Nil Recurring has pretty cool art, though. Especially the booklet.
