did u just hear the 27yr veteran ref on ESPN explain the process?? I hate to say it....based on his explanation the review could not have reversed the TD call....All the review does is confirm that the players had the ball and it was not fumbled or the ball touches the ground...which it never did. Obviously they only ruled on the dual ball possesion, which goes to the offensive player. WOW!

Well while that is all totally correct, it's still impossible to take anything MoM says about the Ravens with much seriousness. Sorry brah.
WOW. Well, Seattle wins...I guess? I'm always one to put it on the team, and not refs but yikes...a terrible PI call, a terrible non call (though when do you see off pass interference?) and a catch that was pretty much interception. Regardless, that was some sh*tty officiating. Edit: Yeah, more I see that was a pick. Damn
The defense was pretty sick though. If they can open up the pass game a little bit that's one helluva team.

I'm not ready to write the Cards down as potential contenders in the NFC (or the NFC West for that matter) yet. However, depending on how they do against the 49ers and the Hawks in their first game against both, that could change my view.
And yeah, the Ravens were incredibly lucky to come away with that win. Objectively speaking I don't think they really deserved to win that game.

Flacco did throw up what was basically the game losing punt, getting lucky as hell that Arrington fell down.

Well...each year they get a little less feared. Age WILL catch up eventually....or they'll die on the field. Either way Losing Suggs hurt, you can see how much the pass rush suffers without him. They have to go Jets style now: throw the house and pray it holds up. Rex Ryan is a total joke, but I at least admire the balls he had to blitz 7 regularly against the Pats. Great game for Torrey Smith after his well noted personal drama. NJ hero Ray Ray was great again and even Flacco ended up pretty damn decent.

You think Rob is joking, MoM probably IS holding back. His truest, unfettered feelings would involve so much censoring PA would crash. Huge Giants win, Skins lose, Eagles lose, Pats lose. Epic week, only could've better if the Cowboys lost but we all know they will blow it when it counts anyway. And they look like crap. That cards game WAS impressive, havn't seen that much of a slugfest, filthy beatdown in a while. Glad a few teams can still stop you by just smashing your teeth out. We'll see if 3 of them now occupy the NFC West I really don't care much, but I'd like the Hawks to win because they're an upcoming underdog, and it'd be nice to see some more defense smother a potent offense. And yeah, I've been generous to the subs, really I have been understanding and accepting but this weekend was too much.

Goodness what a weekend of football. Thank god it didn't effect the outcome. Please...can the coaches or someone who could influence in some way put pressure on the NFL to resolve this thing. I shutter to think of playoff games and a super bowl with this sh*t happening. |
Apparently the refs gave the Titans a 27-yard markoff on a 15-yard penalty leading to their kicker kicking a 26-yard field goal instead of attempting a 38-yarder. Probably didn't make a difference but he apparently missed a couple of kicks closer to that range earlier in the game. Not sure what happened on the Detroit end. According to Schwartz they planned on kicking the game tying field goal in OT and were just trying to draw the Titans offsides. "Miscommunication" led to the center snapping the ball with 4th and inches and Shaun Hill getting tackled for a loss (apparently some dispute about the placement of the ball but I think that they got that right). What a way to lose a game that they really didn't deserve to win. |
Lol. I didnt realize that. (Didn't show the game in my area just saw the highlights) Even if i didnt thats quite poor. I could forgive a 17 or 18 but 27?!?!! Ridiculous. As for detriot...thats what I originally thought as well. It didnt look like a bungled snap (on the couple of times I saw it), but there were so many bodies it was hard to tell. And obviously the end result looked poor. Idk...I could see it being a miscommunication but I do think JS is crazy enough to acually go for it. |
I didn't see it either as I was busy watching the Tigers getting their butts kicked twice by the Twinkies. Apparently, the Lions got called for a helmet to helmet hit on a tackle of a pass receiver. I think that it was initially ruled a catch but overturned on review upstairs. I think that rather than tacking the 15 yards on from the line of scrimmage they tacked it on from the spot of the foul. I'm not sure why it wouldn't have given the Titans a first down. Automatic or otherwise.

Indeed! And I guess I'm rooting for the Hawks as well. I mean any losses that shouldnt be losses for the pack will be a positive thing.

Well, Houston looks to be the only good team in the AFC again this year. Hope, for their sake, they stay healthy. Why does baltimore have a band, by the way? Are they a college team?
