Sanchez has actually looked pretty decent, even crazier considering he threw it 41 times! I will give the Jets credit, they come to play the Pats. No one gave em a chance of even being in this game. Myself being one.
Ravens D has been slowly cracking every year, I think we were all waiting for it to burst and losing their top corner, and to a lesser extent Ray, was the death blow. And I want to like Flacco but IDK, he just doesn't seem to have that moxy
Just to make sure no one misses the irony: That ancient Baltimore defense which isn't actually as good as we all believe, can be applied to the Steelers.

Unless Cincy fires Marvin Lewis (I think everyone in our division is happy that, somehow, he gets rehired each year) I'm pretty sure your division lead is insurmountable. The Steelers are a bad team this year and the Browns have been terrible since they won the Super Bowl in 01', when they pretended to be from Baltimore.

aaahhhhh so glad the Giants are back to normalcy! After a dominating win against a top opponent we throw a clunker against a rival That game was pathetic. Defense: trash. Run game: trash. Pass rush: non existent. Even Eli didn't have a good day, (both picks I'd lay on him, and the 2nd was laughably bad). Buuuuuuuuut, never quit on Eli! We all just sat back and said "Well let's see if Eli pulls another miracle" and boom. It's really amazing. I wasn't terribly impressed with RG3 but he was very efficient. Mostly short passes, lots of runs, options and deception...would like to see him run a more traditional offense but he was efficient, didn't make many mistakes and he is fast as hell. Looked like he was casually strolling while outrunning the whole defense.

My two-year-old daughter makes me give her a quarter each time "the green team" wins.

Though to be fair....many (certainly not all) but many of these football players, well...they are not being paid for their smarts that's for sure.

And here I thought Ravens-Texans would be a good game. It's like the Texans came back from looking human, and all the Ravens' injuries are catching up with them. That first half was pretty much all about the Texans' defense. I think Flacco either had a defender in his face or had the ball batted down every time he dropped back to pass. And the second half is a bit better, but....mostly more of the same.

It should be a good game though, and besides the implications I'm excited. This seems like a crappy weekend of football. Also should be a nice day, so if we do throw up a classic Giants flop against a rival, at least the weather will be nice

If you could not be a fanboy for a moment, I know thats a hard one, I didnt bash him in the slighest. Just pointing out there have been 50 "real deals" that have busted miserably in recent memory.
Pretty much: You cant just proclaim him god before he did anything.
I also believe I said I was scared of him and if he maintained he'd be a crazy dual threat QB.
Credit where its due: for a rookie on a poor team he's done superbly, though part is the fear of his running, he has been a great passer.
I was indeed wrong in saying your defense would be good....they suck.
Eli is going to torch that back 7 like a pyro. Of course our secondary is also trash so I expect a high scoring affair, with Eli and Co. pulling it out thanks to a better team.
OR it'll the 4-2 game I keep waiting for!

Alow me to contibute here:
Yes, I agree with the Proctologist and would go with Ray Lewis. he has knifed to death more people than LT. But Lawrence Taylor has raped more underage girls than Ray Lewis so this one is really too close to call.
Whatever hapend to guys like Dick Butkis & Merlin Olsen???? Football players who were the meanest and best on the field, but actualy could behave like civilized humans off the field?
How bout HOFer Alan Page. First ever NFL MVP on DEFENSE and then he becomes a State Supreme Court Judge..
I wonder if you got Ray Lewis & Lawrence Taylor together if they could team up to get through reading and article from say, People Magazine??? How bout spelling a word with 5 letters??? Hmm..... Just sayin....

As for RG3 just too soon. Players aren't made on day 1.
How many "real deals" have gone nowhere?
That said I am quite scared of the Redskins and its not all RG3 either. Defense should be quietly solid which can't necessarily be said for the G men, Eagles or Cowboys. And if RG3 DOES keep up that pace, well he'll be a legit dual threat QB like we've not seen that will scare the bejesus out of everyone.

Hey dude,
I was just gonna say, enjoy Sunday's Redskins-Giants game in New Jersey, then I cam upon your quote about RGIII back in September? What do you think of RGIII now? Bad news for me(Skins fan) is that Bob is the only thing good about the Redskins.
I think your Giants will probably win, but RGIII's offense will score lots of points and the game might be one of the most
entertaining Skins-Giants games in decades. If Skins ever get some players in the secondary your Giants could be in trouble.... Not now though.
Enjoy!

Well no surprises with the outcome, though the hawks did kind of screw themselves with all those dropped passes.

Every year it seems he blows out a wheel and hobbles around at the end of the year...Troy seems like he has not had a complete season in years. Hawks up by 3.

Lewis had a team high 14 tackles in the Cowboys game.He absolutely leveled Jones, looked like Felix hit a brick wall.Swagger over substance? The man has been the focal point and leader of the team for his whole career. We not only have had one of the most dominant defenses in the NFL,but have managed to do it year in and year out with different personnel because Lewis has been the linchpin. Most of the Ravens past and present(offense and defense)credit Ray in part for their success.Personally,I think he's not only the best linebacker to ever play the position(and yes, better than Butkus),but one of the best defensive players in the history of the game.
|
What the hell have you been smoking? As I believe I eluded to: tackles are misleading because piling (getting yourself half-tackles) pads the stats. You certainly don't have a dominant defense any longer, btw. Not that the defense has showed up when it mattered since 01' anyway (since JJ believes I need to accept that every team earns every win they get I won't point out the names of the utterly woefull QBs they faced that year).
Partial list of LBs better than Ray Lewis (calm down, it's not a huge list): Butkus, LT, Ham, Lambert, Lanier, Singletary, Nitschke, Bednarik, Bobby Bell, Maybe Sam Huff and a few more

Ray wins via death count by a score of 2 to 0. He moves onto the finals where he will face OJ, I guess.

I think LT was a different beast being on the outside, he changed the game for sure. The inside LB position is usually the heart of a defense, I was lucky enough to watch the tail end of Butkus's career, what a wounded mean "bear" he was, all the O linemen would take pot shots at his knees. He still was a terror wounded, he had the same lateral speed that Lewis has (had).
I would rank Lewis (as much as I hate saying that being a Steelers guy) equal with Butkus on a talent level (the game was different then also), but Butkus did not have the same emotional and leadership qualities as Lewis.
The Steeler/Raven rivalry will not be the same if Lewis is not there, hopefully he can go out on his own terms (gosh that hurts saying that... ). That game is the one every one wants to watch.

That's fair, least you admit it! And while he's a legend in Giants lore I never saw him play, far as I know LT was just a name from the past who loved crack and prostitutes but has trouble telling a 15 year old from an 18 year old. I'd actually be more concerned losing your best corner. I know Suggs is coming back, he may be a pass rushing and run stopping force, but he can't go cover wideouts
