Why do you think I have no empathy? Why do you think I'm spoiled? Why do you think I'm little? Why do you think I'm rich? Why do you think I'm a kid?

Please, Teo, don't buy into their narrative that you have to be poor to have feelings.

It's sad that an even longer life of poverty has made you so bitter immature and prejudiced.

OK Theodore, tell me about your impoverished "third world" upbringing.
You know how to make a pair of sandals out of discarded tires, know how to get by on a bowl of rice a day? It must have been tough.

Was this meant for me? I don’t believe in capitalism, but it doesn’t work the way you put it. You don’t have to be born into a wealthy family to become a tycoon (though it might help). But in essence capitalism means that a few people benefit a lot from the work of many. That doesn’t fit with my idea of justice.

Sad person full of hate and ignorance you are. I come from a third world country and make less than 25000 a year yes I'm so rich. You have no idea about my background yet you are the first to make prejudgements about people. Poor prejudiced man. You deserve pity.

Really? So, no one who wasn't born with a silver spoon etc, has ever made something of their lives? No one ever started their own business from nothing?? Could they have done that under communism?? I'm not the biggest fan of capitalism but it is evidently a better system than communism.
Michael Moore, one of the most vocal critics of capitalism has made a personal fortune in the region of $100m on the back of the system he claims to hate so much.

I think both (communism and unregulated capitalism) are extremes that hurt everyone but the rich and powerful. Well-regulated capitalism with a significant social safety net is the best way to go, at least until I can get that karma-based economy thing to catch on.

My heart’s with communism; my brain is not. It’s a sad fact that communism has never worked for the benefit of the people. The revolution devours its children, and when they are (b)eaten, it starts to hunt the grandchildren.

Oh, no, not that sh*t again.
Please, guys, I come from another forum where relations had been tense for a few days tbecause of a forumite taking the defense of a historian who seems to be very fond of Stalin and the USSR... And I would enjoy not to have to witness another senseless debate of this type.
I'm baffled to see that some people interested in the theories of Marx and his followers (faithful disciples or skeptic critics) always feel the need to remember that the USSR was part of the Allies and enemy of the Third Reich. Okay, Stalingrad was the turning point of WWII, okay, we got that part for a loooong time. And USSR was a totalitarian system, we also got that part, thanks.
But, now, could we stop masturbating over casualties, death tolls and which regime or economical system had called more people? For what I remember, it seems to me that the original poster just wanted to know if some prog fans happened to be communist sympathizers, not if some prog fans had an erection in front of the uniforms of the Red Army! Can't people read Marx, Engels, Luxemburg, Simone Weil or Gramsci without feeling the urge to kiss a picture of Trotsky, Lenin or Mao Zedong???
Gosh, I feel like center extremist.
