Agreed!!

I rank Control and Resistance higher than most progmetal albums, it's absolutely genius. Wonder where Cynic got their 'unique' fusionmetal style from then look no further. Dream Theater and Fates Warning seems to have get all the credit on the progmetal genre which is unfair, I hope Watchtower's two albums get's far more attention over the next years (if the majority can stomach Teccio's voice that is!).

Also, Psychotic Waltz rarely get's mentioned here either but their two first albums are masterworks of the genre and remains unique to this day. Like WT they definitely deserve more attention, their albums are rated highly though. Approve

Last, Vauxdvihl's 'Dimension Logic'. Check it out, metal fan or not!

Yes it's not majestic like Per Un Amico but it's still a great album, with high quality music.
I was just thinking this today.  I've listened to it twice so far (just bought it), and it's really really nice.  Might end up being my favorite PFM album before long.
Jet Lag is one of my favorite of PFM's-great record. Also love Chocolate Kings, which sometimes gets a bum rap
Chocolate Kings is near perfect until the last track. Out Of The Roundabout is my favourite PFM track and Harlequin not that far behind. Paper Charms starts nicely but has too much sub Roger Chapman style vocal warblings for my liking.

I'm glad you like it!!

My favorite track is Meridiani, phenomenal guitar by Mussida and some killer bass line by Djivas in the second part. Clap Clap

Colours by Eloy - I love that album and return to it time after time - How can it have a low score?  I guess I have a weird taste, and doesn't align with any others on this forum.

there are too many albums that deserved better:

Cromwell - Burning Banners - 1997
Deja-Vu - Between The Leaves (1976)
Minotaurus - Fly Away (1978)
Pax Romana - Trace of Light - 2005
Airbag - Identity -2009
Twelfth Night - Fact And Fiction - 1982
Richard Wright - Broken China 1996
anything by Landberk

anything by Poverty's No Crime
the two albums of the progressive metal band Tunnelvision (from Finland)
Sieges Even - criminally underrated in my humble opinion
Conception - anything by them, great progressive metal

that's all for now, I'll be back...Smile

^ Maybe what you mean is that the use of the word "understand" is sometimes not enough when trying to explain something.

Agreed.

I don't like how people use ''understand'' so often when they talk about music. It is a proper term for many things but not for everything. The Missing Piece is a easy album to understand. Bitches Brew ain't easy to understand but many bands in progressive rock make easily understandable albums.

Certainly, the pop turn begins here and the tracks get a bit shorter(some proggers will automatically deduct points for that) and less complex. But I would say though the turn toward pop has begun, they certainly haven't arrived yet.  I just saw that AllMusic gives it a mere 2 stars. The reviewer says it is "imbalanced" and actually calls Giant For A Day more consistent.

^ Clever point. But GG probably could have done a lot worse if they chose to, right?

I guess Lizard by King Crimson. Yes, I know that a lot of people on this site like this album, but a lot of web reviewers (including Mark Prindle, John McFerrin, George Starostin, Evan Lublinski) consider it terrible. In fact, I bought it just because they said it was bad, and after the last chords of "Big Top" faded out, I was left dumbfounded, asking myself "Am I listening to the same record that they were describing?"

Agree, very underrated album

Aye aye! I love Fripp's droning notes and especially "Big Top". Almost 80% of the album is good IMO. Those guys might as well just give up on reviewing music.

Or it's because they consider The Missing Piece generally a step down from the first 8 albums.

Can't go with Test For Echo - got to be the Rush album I have laid aside for the longest time (about ten years now).

Caress of Steel, on the other hand. Now THERE is an underrated album.

For sure not the most underrated album, but i enjoy Camel's Breathless more than Rain Dances or The Snow Goose.

Echoes is one of their best songs ever, plus the album is riddled with catchy melodies and vocal lines.
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.
