Why do you even need to retaliate for getting hit with a Moyer fastball?

Dodgers wake up and take it. Nice little bench clearing there. It appears Victorino doesn't liked to be buzzed.

Sort of expected the Phils to drop that one, might be nice to steal tonight's game though.

Boston up 1-0 and Philly is 2-0....I was hoping that the Rays were going to give Boston a better fight.

unfortunately I missed last nights game and will miss tonight's too due to Calprog. Hope to see Sundays and I hope the Dodgers bounce back and pick up game two. Pretty even game by two great teams from what I read though in game 1. Lets hope for a dynamite series.

Hopefully Myers can have a strong outing, would be very nice to be up 2-0 heading out to LA
really great game last night (for all but Dodger fans I suppose)

It is amazing that one man can really make a difference on a team. I don't think that they would be where they are without Ramirez.

I'm not entirely sure. Fangraphs has him as worth about 3.5 wins since arriving in LA, and I don't think it's unfair to say that Juan Pierre would have been worth at least 1.5 wins (less than half of Manny) during the same stretch. It's close, though.
|
What Manny brought to the team cannot be measured like that. This team was flat and unfocused. Manny and Casey Blake brought the kind of leadership the youngsters needed. One to teach them ho to have fun and the other how do it professionaly without complaint. You can tell by the way Loney, Martin and Either are going so deep into counts to get good pitches. These guys were so tight Carl Palmer could have had a great drum solo on them. In the beginning of the year those guys would not have performed like this. No matter what happens against the Phils this team chemisty is already changed.
One interesting fact was the lineup used in the series against the Cubs had not played together this year. That is how different the team is now. The other thing is that Torre has sold Nomar, Kent and Pierre that coming off the bench is best for the team without complaint. I think this maybe one of his best managing jobs. I am pretty sure he has a chip on his shoulder.

If they do make the World Series and win it Joe will have the last laugh and a hearty F you to George.

The best-of-five divisional system is not a functional playoff method. They play 162 games to figure out who's worthy of a playoff spot, and they need every last one of them--and sometimes one more. And then they let it come down to three games to decide who moves on after that. C'mon, anybody can beat anybody three times. They really aught to at least expand that series to seven games. Sure, it'll make the playoffs three days longer, but I don't see why MLB doesn't want to cash in on a couple extra playoff games.
|
The baseball season is long enough as it is. We would be going almost into November with anymore added games. Baseball should be over in the first weekend of October. These games shouldn't be played when it's cold or snowing. It's not fair to the fans or the players. What they need to do is play more double headers during the season and expand the rosters to 27 players. If they finished the season in the early part of September then they could play best of seven series' all the way through to the World Series.
|
Just shrink the regular season and let all playoff series be (best of) 7 games

Good as in "good enough that I'd add them to my roster over a couple of utility guys or extra relievers if I had two addition roster spots."
