I have all albums of both - 'nuff said.
Still, my vote goes to Kate.

Who's da chick?
PS: The prog related subforum really needs to let us create polls. Neither of these artists are prog.

Can't really agree with the PS there. I'm not really narrow as to what I consider prog. Personally, I think Tori is overdue for inclusion on this site.
Of course, I can't really choose. If you threw Sarah McLachlan in there, I'd rank either of them ahead of her. Her first three albums had some nice progressive elements in them, but lately she's moved away from that.
For Bush fans curious about Amos, I'd probably start with the album Little Earthquakes. Probably the best single song to try is Your Cloud from Scarlett's Walk.
A little comparison and contrast might be interesting. Tori is definitely influenced by Kate. Her first self titled album came out two years before Kate's The Red Shoes. During Kate's hiatus (1994-2004), Tori has released 8 regular studio albums. At the current rate, Tori will ultimately be the more prolific artist. To date that's 8 Kate studio vs. 9 Tori's, with a new Tori due out this year. I think if you factor in all of Tori's EP releases vs. Kate's, Tori has done more song-hours. Both are very cute. Tori is more of an energetic keyboardist than Kate...
I see this poll got moved or as I like to call it, disappeared by one if the powers that be on this site.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Tori versus Kate eh?
It would certainly be interesting to watch. My money's on Kate Bush in the third round.

I have albums by both, but I'm much more of a Kate Bush than a Tori Amos fan. However, Tori's output is undoubtedly very interesting, and perhaps she would deserve to be considered for inclusion here. BTW, I'm moving this poll to where it belongs - to the PP/PR Lounge.

Kate sang a duet with Peter Gabriel.
Tori sang a duet with Maynard.
Says it all - both good girls.

sh*t! I wrote a nice response but the server f**ked up and It got lost! Anywayyys it was basically I like Tori more because her songs are so personal and are pretty much 100% an extension of her. She kicks ass on the piano. Her first five albums are awesome.
The unplugged version I have of Caught A Lite Sneeze is the best thing ever. (She plays it on a harpsichord).

Tori.. she's a classical pianist and a better composer. Besides, Kate's a little odd for my taste..

... I cannot vote... both have great albums and great songs... Both are extremely talented women... Maybe Kate is more avant garde and take bigger risks in her career but I love Tori piano playing... No, really I cannot vote... Both have my total and unconditional love...

Kate is more progressive and avant-garde than Tori Amos. Plus, Kate's half Irish.

Kate Bush gets my vote. Tori Amos has released some great albums, but also some real rubbish too.
