Wine by far

I love beer and red wine, but not during the same session.

I actually prefer to drink wine in the house and beer in the pub. The only time I mix the two is if I go for a curry. I love a strong Cab Sauv with a Madras, but a few strong lagers for afters.

My beer of choice is Theakstons Old Peculiar.

I must also admit that in North West England it is socially "unacceptable" for a bloke to drink wine in a pub--well in the pubs I frequent,it is.....

Never tried either, but you certainly make them sound worthwhile.  I'll have to given them both a try.  Life is too short to drink bad wine (or beer for that matter).Smile

I agree that beer is severly underrated in comparison to wine.  Wine is like classical music because of the connotation of it being part of the upper class and all the elitism that comes with it; which is a shame.  Beer tends to be associated with the working class.  I don't know why this is.  I know of people who collect wine and have wine tasting parties, but I don't know anybody who has beer tasting parties.  To bad too, because there are so many great beers from around the world that most people have never tried.  It seems here in the U.S. the attitude is worse - it's either Budweiser or nothing at all.  Which means many of the great beers of the world go largely unnoticed.  Cry
