When the All Star game was here in 2005 I got a ball from the Celebrity Softball game and from the Future Stars game.  (with Verlander and Zumaya pitching for the Tigs).  The home run derby was kind of a pisser, because they moved us from our seats in right field for the media, and made us sit out in left field.  Other than Pudge almost all of the home runs were to left field.  Abreu probably put 10 of them in our seats all by himself.

Well that's a little depressing, glad they did catch him though.

Oh, as for the fan..
So yeah, someone just died recently trying to catch a ball (in front of his year 6 kid none the less) and someone almost falls off trying to catch one now? It's just a ball, and from the HR derby so it's even less of a big thing.

Sheesh people. How far over did he go?

Exactly.

Baseball is still the sport that holds #1 in heart but the all star game is just terrible.

I don't watch the pro bowl either.

Love the game! Still play the game! But as far as MLB All-Star game.......that's what SportsCenter is for. As well as NFL ProBowl, heck I'm lying, I don't watch ANY highlights of that fiasco!....But I will watch the NBA All-Star game, cause they can show off.

Nah it's just kinda boring is all, guess maybe of the show of it all.
HR Derby I like even less though!

Almost fell out of the second deck? By trying to catch one?
Just looked it up....
Wow yeah, and just a few days ago didn't someone lean over trying to catch a ball and fall to their death? Ermm

Cano had 12 in the final round, which was a record.  A fan almost fell out of the second deck.  I missed the end of the second round and the beginning of the final round as I fell asleep on the couch.  I woke up to see Cano hit his last 3 homers and run out to his dad on the mound.

I always enjoy the All Star game even if it doesn't mean anything.  I have probably watched all of the last 25 games or so, or at least parts of the games.  I might not necessarily watch the entire game.

So the all star game is even less fun than usual? LOL

Would anyone really care in the HR derby? LOL besides the pitchers they use DO put it right where they want and really slow. The whole idea is kinda so they can bomb them out ya know...

32? Hamilton had more than that a few years ago. Hell, looks like Bobby Abreu had 41 a while back. So it wasn't even a record? SleepySleepy

His dad was grooving the pitches to him.  He was also pitching to Big Papi, but I think that he was throwing him spitters.

I did not watch any of the HR Derby....Was Cano swinging a 45/40 bat....corked?? Or maybe his pitcher was tossing underhand??

Yep.  They said they could field an entire All-Star team of guys who are either hurt, too emotionally exhausted to play, or who pitched on Sunday.  Something like the top 5 or 6 starting pitchers in the American League all pitched on Sunday, so are unavailable for tonight's game.

Does it feel good Scott? LOL

Aren't like a dozen players alternates? Seems like more than ever decided not to show up.

Like always, I shall not be watching the all star game Sleepy

5 Tigers in the All-Star game tonight, less Verlander who pitched on Sunday.  It is nice to have some representation for a change.  The last few years have made the game more enjoyable.  I was so sick of just having 1 representative every year, who would get in the game in the 7th or 8th inning as a pinch hitter and pop out to Shortstop or strike out.

I think the Ripken record can be done within the next 10 yrs......official game is recorded after the 5th inning? I was at his tying game in Baltimore where he also hit a HR....did not have tickets for the next game Cry.

I hope it does not get broken.......Cal "Iron Man" Ripken Jr just sounds nice

That one I can see, but I don't see the hits record being broken, nor the most games played streak.
At least until we get a new generation of players, all these roided up guys can't physically make it that long LOL

Suzuki is this generation and would have had a damn good shot at the hits record if he was born in America.

Well that is true. Crazy to think we're he'll end up after playing for 10 years in Japan!
I suppose if you assume his 200 hit a year pace, for 10 years even lowballing it he'll be over 4,000 hits by now.
I forget about him, being tucked away in Seattle like that.

I mean of course it can happen, I guess for the sake of it I'll modify and say "I dont see it happening in the next 50 years"
That may be when the next Ichiro or Pete Rose comes around. I hope! Would be nice to see some more "hit" guys and not just HR hitters.

Oh yeah that whole Home Run derby was on wasn't it?
I used to like that when I was younger, it was a fun lil event....but recently I've started to see it's a boring, long event. Sleepy
Especially when guys like Josh Hamilton have those pic games, its like "oh sh*t!" then "another one....when will this end?"
