Didn't hear that but the Mets must want him gone if they are willing to pick up his salary. I see that the Rangers are interested in him. I would hope that the Buccos don't give up too much to get a 34 y/o OF.

It would make sense. They could also look at Pena. I think they should really be interest in adding a SP.

Does it happen much more than any other randomly selected team? Yes.
Is it immutable? No.
This is a sidetracked discussion anyway. Felix is not going to the Yankees this year. There's a higher probability of the Orioles winning the World Series this year.

I lived in Maryland during those Cal Ripken Jr glory years, maybe I will root for the O'bags!!!

It was an offseason trade. The Tigers got CF Austin Jackson (mostly a bust) and P Phil Coke (decent bullpen lefty, not so decent lefty starter) from the Yankees for Curtis Granderson and Max Scherzer (decent starter, maybe) and Daniel Schlereth (inconsistent bullpen lefty) from Arizona for Edwin Jackson (since traded to the White Sox).
Edwin Jackson shutout the Tigers on Saturday with Scherzer as the losing pitcher (he only gave up 2 runs, with Valverde giving up the other 3 runs in the 9th).

I see that point...but not really. How would that be good for all MLB? MLB would loose so much TV viewership out here in the west if the NYY get Felix or Verlander or Cliff Lee or all or some....I would have no interest in watching any NYY games on TV.
That might help a bit more in the east but in the grand scheme of things it would hurt viewership overall. I mean why would the San Diego, LA, San Fran markets watch more NYY games if that were to happen?
Good topic tho

I still don't know how Cliff Lee didn't sign with the Yankees. That one left me completely bewildered.
And you mean like with the Tigers trading Curtis Granderson to the Yankees even though he still had 3 years left on his contract.

Just like it was for Cliff Lee?
If it happens, it will be in free agency or in a time beneficial for Detroit, not when ratings dictate it.

It'll only be a matter of time until Verlander is a Yankee.

Why isn't Verlander going to be traded to the Yanks too then? Why were the Yanks terrible for a decade then?

A 25 year old pitcher in the top 10 in baseball locked into team control does not bend to any demands.
