Go for it Ivan! Max has kindly told me that Uriah Heep will be included at some stage, but they are a big job. |

I vote none, but I think if any of the above bands should be in here it's Uriah Heep. I agree that lots of their songs can be seen as early progressive rock/metal. When I listen to present day progressive metal bands I still hear Heep's influences. Edited by Aquarius |

It's not my intention to force anybody to include Uriah Heep, but I'l give my opinion about this band and why I believe is progressive, the decision to include them is not in my hands, but I do believe they deserve it, so let's go to history: Pre Uriah Heep: Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake both members of Uriah Heep formed with Greg Lake part of "The Gods", a psychedelic/proto prog band of the late 60's, so the historical background of two of the principal members is related with progressive rock. Uriah Heep: Their first album Uriah Heep specially the UK version Very Eavy Very Umble is full of Mellotron and already has some progressive songs like Gypsy, Bird of Prey, Circle of Hands and Dreammare which succesfully blend operatic's, British Pstychedelia and of coutse early progressive metal. "Look at Yourself", their second album contains at least rhree tracks that are 100% progressive, the symphonic epic July Morning, the complex Look at Yourself and the magnificent Tears in my Eyes. Salisbury contains the baroque Salisbury, the acoustic The Park and the spacey Lady in Black, all progressive, plus a new version of Bird of Prey. "Demons and Wizards" and "The Magicians Birthday" are both progressive albums and the first predecessors of a new sub-genre called Progressive Metal. Later albums keep the progressive sound but after a few years and may personal changes and tragedies they became more metalic than prog'. Uriah Heep was born as a progressive metal band that abandoned the style after 6 or 7 albums, but Genesis did the same and nobody doubts they are Icons of Progressive Rock. Iván Edited by ivan_2068 |

Over the past two weeks, or at least through most part of them; there have many discussions regarding which bands should be added up to the archives. Some say they ain't prog, some say they kinda are, some others may say “what's the point of this stupid poll anyway?”. I say let's get this over with already and we ought to let know the admins what we really think. I just pointed out the bands we've been arguing about lately, but please feel free to make the bands you think are prog stand out in here! Let's get it on…
