Lady GaGa's "Telephone"

I just watched the whole video. It's hilarious. I started laughing at the the third second. Lady Gaga is the master of parody, topping Shakira (who MUST be 100% comedy, I can't explain her videos and her songs in another way).

It looks like a "women in prison" flick, with a near-porn flavor, no class, only cliches for straight men who would have never met a lesbian or a bisexual woman in their life. Somewhere between "Oz", a bad-taste cartoon for "adults" and a poor take on John Waters' movies (without the humor and the intelligence), this video is not the "Thriller" of the 10's. If you think so, you also think that Green Day is better than the Clash.

And the music is barely average. Without her cosplay thing and her fame-celebrity-glamour-identity-blablabla so-called "intellectual" gibberish (Residents, anyone?), Lady Gaga would stay under the radar, drown in the sea of the everyday pop/dance mainstream.
And if I want a singer who writes her own music, I listen to Melody Gardot or Android Lust.

I rarely like music videos. Not even in prog metal or prog (I actually hate them). But what can I say, pop beats the crap out of other genres in their videos... And this one is entertaining. I don't think it means sh*t (with some exceptions like the declaration of estrogenism by La Germanotta) but it's kind of fun. The music is Pop. Don't come to a Lady Gaga video/song expecting key modulation, atonal harmonies or lightining-fast guitar solos.

That's why I'm not keen on the whole censoring thing.

I caught on to that when the guard says "Told ya she doesn't have a dick," which doesn't really have anything to do with the song or the video, besides the whole lesbian thing I guess.

But on a more serious note, I agree that for a pop artist she is fairly good, not to mention the fact that she writes her own songs, which is a plus in my book. However, I find the video a bit too ostentatious. One can make a point in a different way. I understand she is eccentric and an artist but the line between eccentric art and poor taste is very thin. I don't agree with the mentality: if everybody else does it, why shouldn't I do it?
