What, lyrics aren't progressive enough for ya? LOL

Not meaning to argue, just
I cant totally hear some vocals like Aorta's backing your organ work up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbpJT7-th9U&feature=channel_page

There are certain points in your compositions which lack something... Specifically a melody! It's just chord progression with rhythm+bass. I'm listening to your new composition and the bars 25-32 repeat 10 times and it has no melody or even a solo in that section. That definitely would be an awesome bit for some lyrics. And when it has good lyrics and vocals too, it will be probably a 5 star song!
In the previous composition as well. It had cool riffs for the organ. Extremely cool! But again, for example 7-18 it's definitely missing a melody, which would be a perfect spot for vocals. In fact I ceep hearing your piece as structured as a very brilliant song. It has a brilliant intro from 1-6th bar, then a cool verse bit, with a conclusion from 21 - onwards. After that it gets interesting enough to work as instrumental, but when it repeats the bit from 7-18 on 41-51- AGAIN it would be brilliant for a second verse. It seems you were composing in song format. I'd say don't worry. They'll still be very progressive, even without being instrumental. Clap

But ah well, sorry if I went too far. Just my (strong...) oppinions.
Cool compositions anyways, just tried some constructive criticism.

Thanks for the comments! Big smile
As i said earlier, in "Frågetecken", i removed the organ solo so i could solo on top of it myself.
And maybe you're right about the first song. Now that you mention it, perhaps i should add a melody there. But on what instrument?
I want them to stay instrumental, as i can't sing LOL

why don't you just turn them into mp3's Wink

So do i! I don't know if my songs can be called prog really.
"Ingentitelän" changes between 7/8, 6/8 and 4/4, in different tempos, but other than that i think it's more like heavy prog/hard rock.
"Frågetecken" has a canterbury/jazzy melody, but other than that it sounds almost like an indierock song Embarrassed

VIGILANTE
FUGITIVE

Can't wait until my dad plays the hammond and rhodes parts Tongue
He's gonna make them cool. I'll persuade his jazz guitarist, drummer and bass player to play them lol

Please do.
[email protected] is my MSN.
I'd love to take a look at it through GP.

Smile

EDIT: Ah, sorry, saw that you posted that file already.
No matter - you can send that other file you're working on, if I may ask. LOL

The Gm7, Am7, Bbmaj7, Am7- one.

EDIT 2: The only thing with the first composition is, that it desperately needs vocals and possibly lyrics too.
I think the lyrics posted here would make a very interesting mix...
Or maybe not...?

Nah, my compositions SHALL remain instrumental!
And it would be easier if i just uploaded the second one, which BTW is titled "Frågetecken". Gimme a minute...

SIDE ONE

What Kinds of Fluids Does Your Body Contain?
Lego Madness
Three Kids at the Bus Stop
Don’t Put Your Finger There
Lofty Goals at Age Five

SIDE TWO

Having a Name (Roll Call)
No More Pez for Mommy
Thunder Pants
A Thousand Times No

WHAT KINDS OF FLUIDS DOES YOUR BODY CONTAIN?

What kinds of fluids does your body contain?
Let’s just open up and see
If you lift up your skin, what is that therein?
Is it blood?
Why yes, that is blood
Better get a Band-Aid

What kinds of fluids does your body contain?
Drink that cup of coffee and we’ll see
What makes that stain, that your pants doth contain?
Is it whiz?
Why yes, that is whiz
Better get a change of clothes

What kinds of fluids does your body contain?
Open up your mouth and say “aaaaah”
What’s in that warm bubbly moat, just in front of your throat?
Is it spit?
Why yes, that is spit
Better not release it on the bus

LEGO MADNESS

One lego two lego three lego four
I made a truck and I’ll make five more
My truck has wheels, goes over banana peels
And then it goes back in the garage
Five lego six lego seven lego eight
I’m in an excitable state
Get your hands off my stash, don’t you throw it in the trash
I’m not done making more trucks

THREE KIDS AT THE BUS STOP

A boy is looking at me funny
A girl turns away when I arrive
A second boy just wants to beat me up
I just wish they’d all go away
Three kids at the bus stop
Are keeping me awake at night
I want to tell my mom but I just think it isn’t right
Cause she’ll tell their mom and their mom will tell them
And then they’ll kick my a/s/s on Monday

DON’T PUT YOUR FINGER THERE

My dad is sad, my mom is mad
I put my finger where it don’t belong
She told me to wash my hands
But I just don’t understand
Because somehow I just like the smell

LOFTY GOALS AT AGE FIVE

Today this block, tomorrow the world
My lemonade stand will be in the Fortune 500
By the age of eight I shall learn to fly
And I’ll never have to go to school again
If you have cancer, just call my cell
And I’ll have so much money you’ll be cured
Mommy and Daddy can go suck eggs
Because I’m so much better than them

HAVING A NAME (ROLL CALL)

(instrumental)

NO MORE PEZ FOR MOMMY

What a draaag it is getting old….
Things are different today
I hear every mother say
Mother needs something today to calm her down
And though she’s not really ill
There’s a little yellow pill
She goes running for the shelter of her mother’s pez dispenser
And it helps her on her way, (**SONG ENDED DUE TO LAWSUIT**)

THUNDER PANTS

Boom, Boom
Fillin’ up the room with my Thunder Pants
Scritch Scratch
Got a stain to match in my Thunder Pants
My friends all think it’s cool
But I’m staying after school
Cause the teacher wants to take a different stance
On my Thunder Pants

A THOUSAND TIMES NO

I want some candy, I want some juice
Don’t want to get in trouble so I’ll make up some excuse
The lamp broke itself, the cat always had three legs
I can’t get into trouble or I won’t get my juice
Ice Cream is mine for the having
Or so I wish the story went
I asked a thousand times, but each time she said no
Mommy is a fascist, and that’s a fact.

Can I try to put that into music?

Hey that's pretty rad. A good example of a prog song. It sounds more like a song than an instrumental. I like how you used the guitar, not overdone. Just chipping in with a combined riff with the organ. A bit of clav and flute too. It's mainly a jazz based form of rock in a way van der graaf, wakeman, gentle giant(someone mentioned) can be. But it's still unique. There's even a classical feel in the middle with the violin, piano, mellotron. Do you have any lyrics?

Here's a thing i came up with:

I was just noddling around on the piano when i came up with this cool chord sequence:

7/8 :| C#m7 (1)  C#sus4 | C#m7 (2)  C#sus4 |: x2
6/8 :| C#m7 (1)  C#sus4 | C#m7 (2)  C#sus 4| C#m7 (1)  C#sus4 | F#  E |:

(C#m7 (1)  played as an E (B, E, G#) with C# and G# in the left hand
C#m7 (2)  played as an E (E, G#, B) with C# and G# in the left hand
C#sus4 played as an F# (C#, F#, Bb) with C# and G# in the left hand)

then:

4/4 :| C#madd11 | Bsus4 | F#7 | A6 |: x3

4/4  | C#madd11 | Bsus4 | F#7/Bb| Gmaj7 | Gmaj7 |

C#madd11 played C#, E, F# with C# and G# in the left hand
Just a regular Bsus4 with B and F# in the left hand
F#7 played Bb, C#, E, F# with F# and C# in the left hand
Just a regular A6 and Gmaj7

Then something starting on F#m

I should get a life Cry

Your turn Tongue

Interesting. Have you got it on mp3 LOL

Nope, but if you have guitar pro 5, you can download the .gp5 file here Tongue

Can't you export it as wave or mp3?

Well, I only write the lyrics for my band, not the music, but right now we're working on a 25 minute epic called Faustaus 2031, based on the Christopher Marlowe play about a man who sells his soul to the devil for power and respect, only we changed a bunch of stuff around but kept the main theme,  i would give you the full lyrics only it would take too long for everyone to read, so instead I'll just give you a little taste

The strange dream remains in my eyes
Could the demon have heard my empty cries
Was my mind just playing tricks on me?
Or could my soul no longer be free?
