Awesome, I'm not alone! I'd have to say Open Your Eyes by Yes is mine. Ugh, it's not prog but I can't stop listening to it.

I really enjoy some Neo-Prog.
Anything by IQ, Pendragon, Arena, It Bites and especially Marillion.
I'm actually not too guilty about it.
And GOD do I love Kino and Frost.
Please don't tell anybody.

80s Genesis. I like all of the songs except one or two on Abacab, Duke, s/t and Invisible Touch, and some I love. Especially Dodo/Lurker, the Duke Suite, Mama, Home by the Sea and Domino.

Robin Trower's title track "Bridge of Sighs" is very proggy IMHO (only one of his really) for its dreamy atmospherics. Traffic's "the Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" is still a massive pleasure . Talk Talk- Call in the Nightboy is fabulous driving music (especially the piano flourish). Tai Phong's Sister Jane (just for the slowdance memories). Supertramp's Fool's Overture (love that rolling bass). Spooky Tooth's classic the Mirror (wow what a mood). There will be more!

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Ever hear "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" before? Hehe... well... my brother likes it a lot... and um... it's catchy...
It's not prog (obviously).

A couple more guilty pleasures for me.
I like Marillion's "Dry Land" which is a blatant Hogarth era pop song, but epic nonetheless.
There's also an incredibly pop sounding Mike Oldfield album I used to have on tape. Can someone help me remember the name of it? It features people like Max Bacon on vocals. Very 80's AOR stuff. But there's a fantastic pop song with Adrian Belew on vocals. It doesn't really sound anything like him somehow. "Holy! To me just one glance is holy. . " As pop songs go this is a five star piece.

^^^ The first time I listened to that album was in my discman (before
the days of iPods ) and a friend of mine asked if he could
have a listen since I had said "man, this is heavy!", when he listened
The Silent Man came on and he was like, "man, these guys are
lame..."

- I'd say YYZ is the ultimate closer! Besides, after that song I'm
usually on the verge of passing out from jumping and head banging so
I'm kind of glad they end the set on that one

Oh, I can't stand We Can't Dance. It's like Genesis going... country, or something. I was disappointed that they chose that for their encore last tour. I can understand putting it in the middle of the setlist just because people do like the song. But encore? It's like Rush choosing A Passage to Bangkok and YYZ as their encore songs. Maybe good songs, but definitely not good closers. Oh wait, they did. :/
Yay, tangents.

Genesis - We Can't Dance (entire album, except few songs)
I heard a song the other day and was like, "ah,
this is kind of a like a good Rod Stewart... I wonder what song it is?"
then I thought, "wait... 'I can't dance, I can't sing'... THIS IS
GENESIS!!!". Admittedly, I liked it Yes - Talk (while not loving it, it's quite catchy and I like it)
Now this album I do like Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason (really like it)
Same - quite a bit actually Jethro Tull - Crest of a Knave, Catfish, "A"
Haven't heard Catfish, but I like the other 2! Gentle Giant - Civilian
Supertramp - Famous Last Words
Okay, this one I didn't like.
Songs:
Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart
Yes - Leave it
Agree! Yes - Big Generator
Yes - Finally
Yes - The Messenger
Yes - Don't Kill the Whale
AGREE!!! Genesis - Mama
Genesis - That's All
ELP - Love Beach
some many others, I suppose. |
