Almost hired!

   Throughout the last 40 years or so.. of Prog, there have been tons of auditions that never materialized into hirings . At times, groups resembled sports team with constant personnel changes, shuffling for a multitude of reasons. Do you know of any potentially interesting hirings that didn't work out? Fish replacing Gabriel? Stuart Nicholson replacing Fish in Marillion? True or not true? 
Elton John & Bryan Ferry allegedly tried out for ..... King Crimson , in the very early days (imagine that! or even better comment on it) . Vangelis almost joined Yes when Rick had to mend his cape for a while. 
There was also a question of  Emerson, Wetton, Bruford and some famous guitarist (no, not Jimi Hendrix!!!!) , anyone remember?

	I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.
