can't think of a top 10 for me at the moment, but I'll mention at least the first 3 or 4 Tangerine Dream albums, Electronic Meditation, Alpha Centari, and Zeit, at least one of those ought to be on everyones top 10 Kraut albums IMO,

I've only heard Rockpommel's Land and Solar Music Live myself, and I wasn't very impressed by those. I have to relisten though...

Hi Joren...! Great list...!
I really love Grobschnitt's 1st (1972) but after that...
If it's German, has a strange cover, was recorded between '69-'74, and on a label no-one has heard of then it's probably awesome...! (Heino and Klaus Wunderlich included...) !
...can't argue with you there Oliver...! Some serious brain damage in those puppies...!

I don't have many Krautrock albums... but these are my favourites:
Can (THE MASTERS!!! ) - Monster Movie Can - Tago Mago Can - Ege Bamyasi Can - Future Days Faust - Faust Faust - So Far Popol Vuh - In Den Gärten Pharaos Kraftwerk - Autobahn Agitation Free - Malesch Neu! - Neu! '75
Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Brainticket, Birth Control and Amon Düül I & II are ok too, and I still have to get into Grobschnitt.
I don't know if everyone would consider the above bands as Krautrock though...

Code III "Planet of Man" (1974) (an amazingly pretentious musical history of the origins of the human race and it's future...Contains the most retarded synth-pop song ever. Klaus Schulze makes an appearance)
Out Of Focus "Wake Up!" (1970) (stunning debut. John Lydon jams with Sabbath as Monster Magnet's wedding band in the Black Forest)
Brainticket "Cottonwoodhill" (1971) (This record gave my cat a seizure...RIP Mr. Tiddles...)
Xhol Caravan "Electrip" (1969) (remarkably still very fresh until the, erm, 'singing' kicks in on side 2)
Guru Guru "UFO" (1970) real Stoner Rock. If you listen carefully you can hear one of these cats 'skinning one up' on the snare drum...)
Ash Ra Tempel "s/t" (1971) ('Amboss' is heavier than a death in the family...The flip is familiar kosmische territory...Buy on vinyl if you see it. Beautiful sleeve)
Agitation Free "2nd" (1973) (Tortoise plays Floyd plays Mingus...could have been recorded yesterday. Slip this on casually at a party and wait for the comments. All instrumental apart from the weaker last track)
Floh De Cologne "Rockoper Profitgeier" (1971) (brutally recorded AgitGarageKraut...'tho my German friends always cringe at the lyrics. Another beautiful sleeve and was available on pink or red wax)
Tony Conrad and Faust "Outside The Dream Syndicate" (1972) (underheard Minimalist classic...Faust in laid-back mood...but did we really need a head-shot of Tony "Johnny Depp" Conrad on the cover...?)
Holderlin "Holderlin's Traum" (1972) (beautiful, relaxed, cosmic-folk...Even me dear 'ol Mum likes this...)
...and, of course, anything from Can, Amon Duul II, Faust, TD, Neu et al
Your 10 wilkommen...!
