My love for live albums has always found me at odds with common opinion:

Yes - Yesshows - my fave album (by the way, I also like most of 'Union'...way better than that awful 'open your eyes' album)

Genesis - Seconds out - 2nd fave album

Rush - Exit stage left -fave Rush album EASILY

Supertramp - Paris - 3rd fave album, to me a masterpiece.

AS for NON live albums, 'Incantations' is also my fave Oldfield album.

My fave Spocks beard album is 'Kindness of strangers' and think 'Snow' is one of their weakest

My fave IQ album is 'Tales from the lush attic' and I think 'Subterranea' is among their worst.

I like EVERY Genesis album, including 'Calling all stations'. The people who trash that album have not given it a fair listen, there are some great songs on it.

Oh yeah, and I DO like 'The final cut' also.

it's my lot in life to like the wrong album:

King Crimson "Beat" (I love Waiting Man and Neil And JackAnd Me)

Frank Zappa "Jazz From Hell" (G Spot Tornado)

Frank Zappa "Sleep Dirt" (The Ocean Is The Ultimate Solution!)

Captain Beefheart "Clear Spot" (Love them Big Eyed Beans)

Rush "Power Windows" (Big Money rocks!)

Utopia "POV" (PLAY THIS GAME!)

Kansas "Monolith" (Stay Out Of Trouble kicks a**)

So there, nyaaaaaa!

- I think Hot Space is just as good as Queen's other 80's efforts... and that they're just under Queen's 70's efforts in terms of quality.
- Incantations is my favourite Oldfield album.
- Waterloo Lily is my favourite Caravan (and Canterbury in general, for that matter) album.
- The Damnation Game is my favourite Symphony X album half the time (it's V the other half, but the fact remains).
- I think Focus III is much better than Hamburger Concerto, because I believe they're at their best when they get crazy.
- I think Fish Out Of Water is one of the best solo albums ever.
- My favourite Zeppelin album is Houses of the Holy.
- My favourite Deep Purple album is their self-titled.
- My favourite Tull album (only tried 5, including the overly popular 2) is A Passion Play.

In some cases I do like the "wrong" album...

Rush - Rush, Grace Under Pressure, Vapor Trails

Yes - Tormato, Drama

Genesis - ...And Then There Were Three

Dream Theater - When Dream and Day Unite, Falling Into Infinity

The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour

VdGG - The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Eachother

Pink Floyd - The Division Bell, Ummagumma

King Crimson - The Power To Believe

*** None of these albums are my favorite but I really do enjoy all of these albums alot

I don't know how many others would say the same!

I don't know if this is a minority, but I find ELP/Tarkus MUCH better than Brain Salad Surgery, way less showing off.

Time and a Word is one of my favourite Yes albums

I think I've become renowned for liking almost every prog and non prog album I've ever heard

For example my good people, I enjoy/love/have sexual relations with the following albums -

  • Tales From Topographic Oceans (Over the past 2/3 weeks this has become my second favourite Yes album after CttE)
  • Tormato
  • 90125
  • Big Generator
  • ...And Then There Were Three
  • Duke
  • Islands!
  • Lizard
  • In the Wake of Poseidon
  • Third (Heard someone call it a mess, That's not on!)
  • I also can appreciate the Queen albums after the first five! News of the World is one of my favourites.
  • The Pink Floyd records after Waters, You know what they are!
  • I also think Brain Salad Surgery should be in the top 5 prog albums!

Ricochet is going to sl*g me now

Great thread!!

I prefer Nursery Crymes to Selling England by the Pound.

Duke is one of my favorite Genesis albums.

I prefer aqualung to thick as a brick.

Also, deloused is much better than Frances and the majority of volta fans agree with that.

Where did I mention Red?

As for Tull, most people consider TAAB to be their best.

SOME WORDS OF A "CLASSIC" GENESIS FAN:

Clap I'm a fan of CAS, and the alternative Album (did you heard "Run out of time?". What a song! But not included in CAS!!)

OK... GABRIEL, HACKETT, BANKS, RUTHERFOD & COLLINS ARE THE BESTS!

(I can see all those old Genesis fans trying to kill me...)

But I saw and listened to the CAS Tour (DVD LIVE IN KATOViCE -POLAND-, etc), and a lot of bootlegs.Big smile

And the band on stage was really great. RAY was really a showman (not a newbie). Mike and Tony, were perfect, as usual. Drenann is better and has more feeling than Daryl, and Nir Z did a great work.Smile

It was an attempt of modernizing the band, without forgetting the past. With some young people, and new resources (acoustic set), a new composer, etc. Clap

And Ray's voice is a mix between Gabriel, Collins, himself and something more obscure. Wink

He sings the old stuff, the Collins songs, and the new material perfectly.

Ouch  I was in great disagreement with the decision to suspend the recording of the second album.

It could have been really good!!Cry
