Tough one. Endless Enigma has always been my favourite, so that's easy. After that, things get a bit harder.
- Endless Enigma
- Karn Evil 9
- Aquatarkus (from "Welcome Back My Friends...")
- Trilogy
- The Sheriff or Hoedown, can't decide.

They're all so different to the originals though, what would be your top 5 written by the band? actually i never knew knife edge was a "cover"
|
Knife Edge isn't strictly a cover, nut they nick that great organ section off of Janacek.
my favorite band composed:
- Tarkus
- From the Beggining
- Trilogy
- KE 9
- The Endless Enigma
- Still...You Turn Me On
|
Those are all the really great ELP tracks ![](smileys/smiley2.gif)

Take A Pebble, Tarkus and KE9. ELP was very good with epics. ELP could have meant Epic Long Play
ELP really used the epic form to the max. Especially the contrast between Emerson's complex compositions and Lake's simple but beautiful songs is something I really like. Emerson had the talent and the technique to really turn an epic into something special.

Haha, i fully agree stunning talent from that guy!! the first five ELP records are amazing ![](smileys/smiley36.gif)

I think you have the top 3 songs by the band, no matter what the order ![](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif)

![](smileys/smiley36.gif) ...yes, it's beginning to appear so!
I don't consider myself to be an ELP authority, and I'm surprised that thus far, Snow Dog hasn't shown his paws in this thread...he's a MASSIVE fan!![](smileys/smiley2.gif)

I have more respect for snow dog now "showin his paws" i like that ![](smileys/smiley32.gif)
