5 stars Wonderful CD to SCARE THE sh*tE out of your neighbors!!!! Guys, guys guys-READ THE SMALL PRINT BEFORE BITCHIN'!!!!! You want cohesive stuff???-BUY A STUDIO CD!!!! Totally improvised- I have a question for all of you who poo-pooed this CD, can YOU actually improvise/come up with this kind of stuff??? Be honest!!! NO YOU CAN'T!!! You're fooling yourself if you think you can. I'm a graduate from Berklee in Boston who has played Bass/Stick for more than 20 years- I can play T Lev's stuff but Trey Gunn is WAY over my head most of the time!!! The beauty of the shredding taking place on this CD is that it takes REAL musicians to improvise like this, sure, it's easy to dismiss it as"anyone can play this kind of noise, duh". NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED OR FOR BEGINNERS-OR EVEN THE SEASONED FANS!!! I DO recommend this CD if you want total chaos, KC style. Great packaging ,as always. I give this a 5 star , because it takes some brass "cojones" to release this kind of CD, and also because , there's NOTHING out there that compares to this.

Tried to respond to your reply on private messenger but kept getting a notice that I wasn't using the right form (?).  More weirdness.  Anyway, I got my review to go through this morning from work with no problem.  I incorrectly identified Mr. Rudess as "Jason" at one point but I guess there's no way for me to fix that, right?  Thanks for your help and sincere concern. what does length have to with it. as long as we are allowed ratings only, no review can be too short.
 
if I'm correct these reviews are not shown on the frontpage. and can easily be ignored. at l;east it provides some reasoning (be it not very good) for the 4 star rating.
 
My guess is the writter's language is spanish, or portugese, it can be difficult to write in a  foreign language.

I don't see any slating of anyone there Bill, he's only suggesting they may be took quirky in the way others might say too jazzy, too folky, too bluesy, too avante garde, etc.

Right, I may be a tad bit drunk, but I really don't think that slating an entire band's fanbase in a review is good practice.

3 stars Why don't we have a 3,5? Only 3 or 4? I think this album deserves a 3,5.

It's really strange to see people sayin' that this album is crap. In my head, PoS's fans are open minded people, and then we came here and read something like "Daniel rapping? WTF?"... These comments are unacceptable. Man?! Don't you know the context? What's better than criticize the rapper doing a rap? Showing that anyone can rap like them? The same goes for disco queen. Maybe you people are so cold, so stupid that don't even know what's sarcasm. Go ahead and listen to the "default" bands, PoS is too much for you. This album isn't as good as the previous, maybe only better than OHBTCL, but still a good album. And it's kinda very original. Maybe a little SOAD? Little, little... not even 10%. The lyrics (as always) are real good. Maybe the americans (or should I say "north americans") are rating and hating this album, but hey, what's wrong about the lyrics? You guys should open your eyes, or listen to Bush? Well, let's get back to the album. There are weak points (the first track is kinda of empty, it doesn't have great points IMO, just a riff and some non melodical things), funny points (Disco Queen obviously, America, some lyrics of other songs too), some real good points (Cribcaged is beautiful, Kingdom Of Loss has one of the most "I can't take this melody of my head" PoS melody, Flame To The Moth has great heavy parts and vocals and so on). Some of the songs aren't "various listen" proof. I mean, the songs get old too soon for a PoS album (some PoS songs didn't got old to me even after listening to it for about 4 years). BE has a kind of this thing too IMO, the songs got "boring" (not boring exactly, but less interesting) after too much listening. Maybe PoS is getting a little more musical, their ideas are not unusual anymore, MAYBE. The songs on Scarsick aren't usual, but the melodies are less "what a strange thing", then listening to it again: "what a strange thing" and then, after some listening "what amazing thing". Well, you have to hear it, that's the only way to take your conclusions. But, listen to it matching the lyrics with the songs, and with humour, because there's sarcasm inside. If you're not so open minded, you should broke the cd after the second song. Good listening. PS.: Still waiting for TPEII.
