A split tonight...I guess it's better than to be swept by them.

Matt Holliday had to leave the Cards game in the 8th due to a moth flying into and getting stuck in his ear.

True.

Well, it's nice and sunny right now, so maybe we'll win today.

From Elias: Tigers CF Austin Jackson threw out a runner at the plate as part of a game-ending fly ball double play to preserve a one-run win against the Indians. The last time an outfielder threw a runner out at the plate as part of a game-ending fly ball double play that preserved a one-run win was on May 24, 2008 when Astros leftfielder Darin Erstad threw Pedro Feliz out at the plate after a flyout from Shane Victorino. The last time a CENTERFIELDER threw a runner out at the plate as part of a game-ending fly ball double play that preserved a one-run win was September 27, 1988. Pirates CF Andy Van Slyke threw Jose Oquendo of the Cardinals out at the plate after catching a fly ball hit by Luis Alicea.

What a great weekend for the Tigers.  3-game sweep of the 2nd place Cleveland Indians.  Yesterday's game may have been the best game of the year.  If you like games where your team scores 7 runs in an inning to take a 7-0 lead and then proceeds to give up 5 runs the very next inning.  They held on to win 8 to 7 with what I have to assume was SportsCenter's number 1 play this morning.  A game ending double play with the final out being a play at the plate.  I didn't think that Austin Jackson had it in him to throw a baseball all the way home, even if it was a fairly shallow hit flyball.  I added a few extra grey hairs yesterday but in the end...what a game!!!

Teams with negative run differentials usually do eventually. I just don't know why they couldn't have swept the Braves before they did.

Seriously what was the point in having Wilson close that game? They said he was suffering from an injury, he was clearly feeling it on the mound, and after the first two batters you could clearly see he had little chance of getting out of the inning.

Well, the Giants have some of the worst offense in the league, so when their pitching staff gets knocked around, they lose big. That's going to give you a bad run differential either way. Their opponents, by contrast, have some incredible pitching. Has anyone noticed what the Braves relievers have done lately? O'Flaherty, Venters, and Kimbrel have ERAs of 1.29, 1.15, and 1.78, respectively.

Why are the good MLB teams all in the East?
Hail Eris!

Ricky Romero has been on fire lately.  Threw a 3-hit shutout last night.

You giving too much credit to Kenny Chesney. Shi*ty music is actually a compliment. LOL

Tuned in to find it's the 9th inning and the Royals up 5-3!
Too bad Tanner isn't here to relish the fact.

Although bases are loaded, so maybe the Empire shall strike again : D

1st base umpire cost the Tigers the game tonight.  With no outs in the 9th inning and guys on 1st and 2nd for the Twins, the umpire said that Santiago, the 2nd basemen was pulled off the bag on a throw to 1st and called the bunter safe.  Replays showed that he was still on the bag.  Valverde struck out the next two guys with the bases loaded, so should have had 3 outs, but Morneau came up and hit a single up the middle to score 2 runs and give the Twins the win.  Oh well.  It shouldn't have come to that in the 1st place as our sh*tty 3rd base coach ended a rally in the 7th inning by getting our baserunner thrown out by about 15 feet at the plate.  We could have had guys on 1st and 3rd with Victor Martinez and his .400+ batting average with RISP, instead the inning was over.  Incidentally, not that it would have happened, but he did lead off the next inning with a double up the gap.

I broke my wireless router / backup harddrive last night watching the Phillies game because we have a manager that chooses not to manage in one half of an inning and then over manages in the bottom half. I would have burnt his home to the ground if he lived across the street from me last night.

I'm liking the Buccos handling of the Cards the last two nights. It appears that he Brewcrew has their sights on the Phillies now for the best record in the NL.

Yep.  After he hit the first one, I pretty much expected that he was going to hit 600 last night.  The Twins had guys on first and third and I thought for sure they were going to walk Kubel to load the bases so that his 600th could be a grand slam.  I think at least 300 of those 600 home runs have come against Tigers' pitching. Too bad ESPN couldn't carry the game so that we all could have seen him hit #600 live.

Buccos beat the Cards. Yea!
