Yeah...that was instructional. Cubs hadn't lost more than two games in a row before that. If you make any mistakes against the Rays, you're meat. Zambrano couldn't keep the ball down...he's having an mri today and that isn't good. Sean Gallagher looked good, Scott Eyre somewhat less so *laughs uncomfortably* if Zambrano is out for any lengthy period, that would be a bad thing. Hendry will be looking to deal. He probably is anyway. Cubs have an outstanding farm system, with the minor-league clubs in solid positions, but not that many individually excellent players. Jim Hendry doesn't mind giving up high draft picks for proven players though. There are some aces that are struggling that could be pried away from their teams, and the Cubs have plenty of money. I don't think they'll give up on championship possibilities even if big Z is out for a while.
Kudos to the Rays...can't take that away from them. Very impressive series. Rays pitching made slumping D. Lee look like a minor-leaguer on several occasions with runners on base...and they can field too. I'd love to see them win the wild-card or even the division, though the BoSox will be hard to overtake.
For the first time in history, the Cubs and Sox face each other with both teams in first. Sox whupped the Bucs while the Cubs took one on the chin. Lilly faces Danks in the series opener in couple of hours. Contreras vs. Marquis tomorrow and Vasquez vs. Dempster in the finale. Good matchups...Danks has been able to overcome occasional control problems so far but that's a problem against the patient Cub team. Contreras lost to the Cubs last year and Vasquez has three no-decisions. Sox best chance is probably Saturday...Lilly has given them problems in the past and has been pitching well lately, Marquis is always a question mark, and Dempster is pitching like an ace, especially at Wrigley where he's 8-0.
A friend of mine who's a Sox fan owes me a case of Sam Adams should the Cubs win two. Two if they sweep.

Idk....the Yanks APPEAR to be shedding their old ways (going out and buying every top player)
They skipped on Santana...and looks like their building up from their lower teams As much as CC Sabathia would be a good, (and needed) addition I REALLY hope they don't and keep building their current team. And I'm tired of all this "Yanks are playing weak teams right now" This same thing happened last year when they go on a hot streak, then they hit a stretch of hard teams and continued to win...so yea |

Wurd on the street is that they're eying CC, whose contract expires at the end of the year. And sure they played bad teams, but that's how teams get turned around. A month ago with Jorge and A-Rod on the DL they certainly wouldn't have swept the Astros and the Padres. |

they look good against the bottom feeders in the frickin NL ... we'll see how they look against the better teams in their own division.. like the Rays.. who were going for the sweep tonight against the best team in the majors... without Wang... they won't even make the playoffs.. but we are talking about the Yankees ... they will buy a replacement for him. |

They posted a video of my cousin wearing a mic during practice. It's in the video section. |

Yeah, but he's not as bad as that Texas catcher, Salamandadrogawhatever. He's caught one man stealing out of something like 36 attempts this season.

And it continues...as they just pulled ahead of the Padres. I think it's happened, the Yankees have FINALLY gotten on the roll they need. If there offense stays hot, and pitching continues to steady, I think they can make it by without Wang. And speaking of the current game, I feel bad for the Padres catcher. Everyone of the Yanks is stealing like crazy on them |

We all know that the Royals are going to finish dead last; but, there is something SO sweet about beating the Cardinals the first two games of the series in St. Louis. No Dekinger, so who will they blame?

Did ya hear what Hank Steinbrenner had to say about this? It is about time that the National League get in the 21st Century and use the DH. Forget that having a pitcher bat does add strategy into the game. I realize that most pitchers can't hit and the DH adds offense to the game but I enjoy NL baseball, as well as the double switch when a manager uses it. |

Wang is in a CAST for 6 weeks, probably at least another 2 or 3 to rehab afterwards.
But FIVE OVER FIVE HUNDRED! |

The Yankees are FINALLY turning it around....and they lose Wang! For 6 weeks!! This could kill.....hopefully their offense stays hot and their starting to steady pitching will stay. |

So Willie Randolph was finally fired after all that speculation. I wonder why the bad timing though, 12:15 a.m. PST if I'm correct, and after they beat the Angels. But is it really his fault for how bad his team is? Omar Minaya is the one who put the team together, it seems his job status isn't questioned enough. And it doesn't seem like Jerry Manuel is a good idea to replace him since he has a similar temperament to Willie Randolph. I guess I shouldn't be complaining, I am a Phillies fan.

Yeah...while I don't wish anyone to be hurt, I hate the Yankees too. And the Mets.

sh*t. Bad for my fantasy team, but worse for the Yanks. With Kennedy and Hughes both unavailable, the only option seems to be Kei Igawa. What a nightmare.
