With magic, you can turn a frog into a prince.
With science, you can turn a frog into a Ph.D. and you still have the frog you started with.

If you like bacon, you will like Chicharron a la peruana.
You put the pork in a pot (no bones better) with water only (enough to cover the pieces of pork), then after some time the water will get mixed with the pork grease (while boiling) and after the same time the water will evaporate and the pork will end being cooked (almost fried) in it's own grease with all tghe flavor concentrate when everything evaporates.
You add salt, pepper and the condiments you want and you have a delicious plate.
Can be served as sandwich with onion mixed with aji (Peruvian chili) and/or fried sweet potato in slices
Or in a dish with what you want
Now, if you are brave enough (Or you believe cholesterol is healthy), you can eat Chicharron de cebo (Pork Grease crackings)
But the only time I ate this, was after a day of surfing (with almost no money) when I was 18, and felt sick....Despite this risk, it's pretty tasty, because it's pure skin where the flavor is.

Let's make a deal...cease and desist all talk about bacon, and I swear that I won't breathe a word about bath salts.

You should bake good sausages & smother them in maple syrup 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time... now that's heaven on a plate |
That does sound good!

What flavour is the ice cream?
I find the idea pretty gross, to be honest, although, I'm happy to smother bacon in maple syrup, so I guess that's not far off the items, in principle.
I never say never when it comes to food, though, I'd certainly try a 'bacon sundae' out of curiosity if nothing else. I don't think anything like this could catch on over here, although they - allegedly - deep fat fry chocolate bars in Scotland, so I suppose nothing is off limits. |
I'm pretty sure it's vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and topped with caramel syrup, and bacon. I enjoyed it when I had it. When you've had enough drinks, you kinda eat anything.

I always dry fry bacon as it's more controllable than the grill on my cooker (and it doesn't set the smoke alarm off quite as much). I never trim the fat off bacon - that's where all the flavour is - I just render out as much fat as I can (and try to resist the temptation of frying the bread in the rendered bacon fat). What is healthy? The amount of bacon most of us consume in any one meal is relatively small (2 or 3 ounces), that's not unhealthy. |
I agree. I tend not to listen to 'government advice' on what we should and should not be eating.
The point about the fat; I had raised cholestrol some years ago, and got into the habit of not eating the fat on meat. That included trimming it off bacon. I got my cholestrol down, but how of that was to do with modifying what I ate, and how much was related to the sterol drinks and the increased cardio exercise, I don't know.
