You should get whatever you'll enjoy most.

But should i start buying the "Greatest" of the prog rock, or should i buy "random" albums, just like a Nektar album?

First 5 Prog albums(from the 70's) you should get:

Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull
Fragile - Yes
Selling England by the Pound - Genesis
Trilogy - ELP
Mirage - Camel

If you're into the more adventurous, then replace the Camel one, the ELP one and the Genesis with:

H to He Who Am the Only One - Van der Graaf Generator
Octopus - Gentle Giant
Larks' Tongue in Aspic - King Crimson

For King Crimson, I'm a Larks' Tongues in Aspic kind of guy, but it probably wouldn't be the best starting point for most,  The début is where I started and it was a good place to start even if it's not my favourite King Crimson album.  In fact, part of why I'm here is because of In the Court of the Crimson King (played a part in my journey).

Just some quick, must-haves:

Tales from Topographic Oceans
- Yes
Song for America - Kansas
Red - King Crimson
A Passion Play - Jethro Tull
Hemispheres - Rush

Hi. I'm having a very hard time picking which albums to buy. What shall i do. I don't have a single album! Should i like pick up 5 King Crimson albums, or should i buy an album from a band i like - Nektar. Should i get the "classic" ones?
