I've not seen Ep. III yet, but i can say, despite super-technological effects, the first trilogy is better.

...and, generally, any prequel (see also "Enterprise") sucks !

The biggest dissappointment with Episode III is that Jar Jar didn't die. I'm sure the audience would have exploded with applause if he had.

I've heard that George Lucas originally intended to use disco music in the movies, but then changed his mind and went for an orchestral score.

I wondered why did they put in Jar jar Binks if they knew most adults or teens would have liked it?

BECAUSE they are CORPORATE WHORES THATS WHAT.

And normally I'm not a big star wars fan, in fact part II was horrible imo.

What I really dislike about episode I & II is the stupid "funny" stuff like that non-porpouse Jar Jar Binks, ok they find him speak with his king and his race helps but thats it, is jar jar needed in the whole 2 movies, it seems that it's a charachter for 5 year-old-children who ask their parents to take them to see jar jar.  It doesn't have a real role like golum in the lord of the rings or something.

Fortunately he desapeared in episode III  and the story is much better (to me).

I´ve also watched again Episode II this week with my girlfriend (yes, she likes prog and is a Star Wars´fanatic ) and the acting is so bad, specially young Anakin. I think they selected that actor only because he can stare furiously. And, come on... the way the story is told, Amidala must be kind of stupid. One man that says the perfect way to rule a galaxy is a tyranny, that after loosing his mother slaughters the whole tuskan establishment.... and she falls in love with him!!

I´m dying to watch Episode III....

I think that the first one, "Episode IV" had an
atmosphere to it the other films lack. Although all of
the films, thought I see them to be somewhat sentimental,
have an "edge" to them.
To hell with the Ewoks.

^ I can't fault William's scores too much, but something a bit more futuristic or at least exotic mught have helped in some places (i.e., the cantina scenes, the ewok celebration, etc...) because it can be hard to take those scenes seriously with that silly background music.

I stick with the idea part II is the best yet and some people can't understand that because they desperately want the same. Nope, no progression.

Good acting? It seems terribly obvious (as somebody said, one-dimensional) acting to me - everyone knows what's going to happen so if Anakin's personality was meant to hint at that, it could at least have been subtle. For Star Wars films I do want the same type - that's what Star Wars films are for. The original three were never groundbreaking in terms of stories/acting/scripts but they were damn fun.

Nah, I can't imagine Star Wars with anything but orchestral scores. It's too "traditional", I suppose.

(though it was no worse than Mr. Colt 45 as Lando),

Not to mention the horror that is Jar Jar Binks. And
did anyone notice that the evil trade embargo dudes
in the first one had faux-Japanese accents? I really
started to doubt Lucas's sanity after seeing that
movie.

However, the new one is getting uniformly good
reviews, so I'm excited.

I just wish the movies had an electronic soundtrack,
like Vangelis did for Blade Runner. John Williams is
fine, but I get tired of orchestral scores.

Must be the power of the Dark Side .

I agree with you about Hayden and Ewan. Ewan and Ian have definitely been the shining stars of the first two prequels at least. I was amazed at how close Ewan had gotten Alec Guinness' voice, mannerisms & personality. And Ian, well, he seems born to play the role of Palpatine. From what I've read of the reviews for Ep. III, Ian is fantastic again.
