I think most of people agree that the old movies are better than the new ones but...
Chapter III is much better than the first and second
What do you think?

i disagree with the first theory. From the new movies, part I is much and much worse than part II, which in factis even better than parts 4,5&6. Why you ask? Better story, more believable acting, fleshed out characters, all that in a film that isn't as long-winded yet still not too fast-paced.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the first three movies, and think they're awesome, biut according to me, part II is just a masterpiece. Just wait till I've seen III.
------------- Epic.

Pt 2 is awful, really bad. watched it again with friends the other night and it is embarrassing. the acting is dreadful and the script is dire. Only the last 30 minutes is worth watching. Lucas can dream up a good story, but the man cannot construct a good script or direct particularly well.
Empire is the best film IMO. Lucas didn't direct it and he only wrote the story for that one, not the script.
I'm still looking forward to seeing Pt 3 though.

Episode III is indescribable to me. I saw it last night, and I left the theater speechless. I'm still in heavy analysis of what I saw.

God, I can't wait. I'm a Star Wars fanatic from waaay back, but like many, Episodes I & II were highly disappointing to me, especially II. How can anyone say the acting was good in that movie?!?! It's among the worst I've ever seen in a big budget movie. Not that the first three movies had great acting (Exhibit A: Mark Hamill) but it was tolerable. However, I have very high hopes for Pt. III, but I hate crowded theaters, so I'm gonna wait a couple of weeks. Oh the torture!

Oh man, I really can not wait the Movie, I'm going to hang out at the movies on Sunday in the midst of Star Wars fanaticism and hanging out with my old man at the same time. I just can't wait

I hope it's better than Episode I and II. Episode I was pretty weak, and II was a big step up, and from what I've heard, III is supposed to be the best of all the new ones. But still, nothing can touch the originals.

yea, obviously not. No one can touch a younger Harrison Ford

The acting was better in part II. Look at Anakin who is VERY WELL played as a puber who is badly raised: having no morals, still being a kid, trying to be good but failing. And the script is woow... Pay attention to what political scheming Palpatine is up to, and I ask you after seeing part III where all of his plots unfold, is that story not DEEP? Far more so than the old trilogy; old man finds chosen one, chosen one trains and fails, then trains some more and succeeds. Sure the athmosphere was good, but so is it in part II, it's just different. And so it should be, the times were different!
I stick with the idea part II is the best yet and some people can't understand that because they desperately want the same. Nope, no progression.
------------- Epic.

I was absolutely dumbfounded when I checked the compiled reviews on Yahoo for this movie. It seems the critics actually LIKE IT!!! I don't think any other SW movie has had that distinction, and certainly not the last two. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to wait a couple of weeks.

Hamill had his faults (poor acting and didn't age well, for instance), but IMAO both the young and teen Anakin were truly poorly cast...I was hoping they'd replace the irritatingly one-dimensional Hayden C. for part 3, but no such luck. Hopefully he's had some training since episode 2.
I also had trouble taking Samuel L. and Liam seriously in a Star Wars setting (though it was no worse than Mr. Colt 45 as Lando), but was pleasantly surprised how well Ewan did as a young Obi-wan.
Is it my imagination, or does Ian MacDiarmid actually look younger with every new episode?

i am not really bothered about wether the script is good or wether the acting is cruddy! as long as it is an entertaining film then who cares!

(though it was no worse than Mr. Colt 45 as Lando),
Not to mention the horror that is Jar Jar Binks. And
did anyone notice that the evil trade embargo dudes
in the first one had faux-Japanese accents? I really
started to doubt Lucas's sanity after seeing that
movie.
However, the new one is getting uniformly good
reviews, so I'm excited.
I just wish the movies had an electronic soundtrack,
like Vangelis did for Blade Runner. John Williams is
fine, but I get tired of orchestral scores.

Nah, I can't imagine Star Wars with anything but orchestral scores. It's too "traditional", I suppose.

Good acting? It seems terribly obvious (as somebody said, one-dimensional) acting to me - everyone knows what's going to happen so if Anakin's personality was meant to hint at that, it could at least have been subtle. For Star Wars films I do want the same type - that's what Star Wars films are for. The original three were never groundbreaking in terms of stories/acting/scripts but they were damn fun.

^ I can't fault William's scores too much, but something a bit more futuristic or at least exotic mught have helped in some places (i.e., the cantina scenes, the ewok celebration, etc...) because it can be hard to take those scenes seriously with that silly background music.

I think that the first one, "Episode IV" had an
atmosphere to it the other films lack. Although all of
the films, thought I see them to be somewhat sentimental,
have an "edge" to them.
To hell with the Ewoks.

I´ve also watched again Episode II this week with my girlfriend (yes, she likes prog and is a Star Wars´fanatic ) and the acting is so bad, specially young Anakin. I think they selected that actor only because he can stare furiously. And, come on... the way the story is told, Amidala must be kind of stupid. One man that says the perfect way to rule a galaxy is a tyranny, that after loosing his mother slaughters the whole tuskan establishment.... and she falls in love with him!!
I´m dying to watch Episode III....

What I really dislike about episode I & II is the stupid "funny" stuff like that non-porpouse Jar Jar Binks, ok they find him speak with his king and his race helps but thats it, is jar jar needed in the whole 2 movies, it seems that it's a charachter for 5 year-old-children who ask their parents to take them to see jar jar. It doesn't have a real role like golum in the lord of the rings or something.
Fortunately he desapeared in episode III and the story is much better (to me).

I wondered why did they put in Jar jar Binks if they knew most adults or teens would have liked it?
BECAUSE they are CORPORATE WHORES THATS WHAT.

The biggest dissappointment with Episode III is that Jar Jar didn't
die. I'm sure the audience would have exploded with applause if he had.
I've heard that George Lucas originally intended to use disco music in
the movies, but then changed his mind and went for an orchestral score.

What a sad story it was, I just watched it today and almost burst into tears around the middle especially for young Anakin. Such an innocent person converted into an evil being as seen in Episodes 4 to 6.

Episode II was good but a disappointment to Star Wars fans.

When you are old and decrepit like me and saw Episode 4 when it first came out the effect the film had on me was enormous. It was like you were flying down the street. Remember when you have been on a train and when the train comes to a halt your mind is still moving. Well, Star Wars was like that only faster. I saw episode 3 two days ago and although better than eps 1 & 2 it didn't have the same effect as first seeing 4. I thought it was too busy in a lot of the scenes. It was as if the production team had decided that they would put every special effect into most of the scenes. Episodes 4,5,6,3,2 and 1 in that order of preference

FANTASTIC !! I´ve always been a SW fan and "The Empire Strikes back" had always been my favourite SW movie.... until last week, when I watched Episode III. It´s really amazing!! Not only because of the special effects, but the story is really consistent. I didn´t like Episodes I and II and I really didn´t expect something so impressive from EIII...moreover, the day before I went to the cinema I had been watching Episode V at home.. so YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH THIS LAST PREQUEL HAS IMPRESSED ME !!
Having the opportunity to see Anakin turning to the dark side has been unforgettable...Ups! Sorry, have I spoiled the party to someone?
