I dislike a lot of what has been posted, but some are very good (like the above). I especially like the covers that don't try to look like metal album covers (like the above).

Nothing will ever beat Turn Loose the Swans IMOSmile, but the cover artwork for the new one is absolutely stunning I agree.

Look up a fella named Dan Seagrave.  He did some fantastic death metal sleeves in the late '80s to early '90s, starting with Morbid Angel's Altars Of Madness.

modern metal does have the most intricate covers, some on a par with the classic psych posters of the 60s, though it's in danger of becoming common now as 90% of contemporary metal has the same kind of gnarled illustrations and illegible titles
