1.- You still can write reviews and if you don't like it you can PM an Admin to do the ugly job to erase, not you.
2.- You can be absence from the forum and from write reviews a long period of time and you can return and nothing came wrong with that.
3.- You can propose bands to be added and you do not have to evaluate, you simply put the enough info and samples and someone else do the job.
So, have the membership of Senior Member really have his advantages

Aka - you have no responsabilities and can say whatever you want about the collaborators

Or I might even catch up. I do 1 or 2 a day. Which one should I do this afternoon? Russian Circles or Ocean Machine? |
I write 1-3 reviews a day. I don't necessarily post them that day, but I write them. If I dumped all the reviews I have stored up, I'd make Sean Trane look like a newbie.
Okay, maybe not quite that...
|
How do you have time for that?
Between work and studies, personal affairs to take care of and a very limited time for myself, I don't have time for reviewing much and I have a small stock of promo's to review. I personally need time to review as I don't like to just write a short thing but rather put time and effort into it like many others do here (including you) and so it takes me time to write them.
I really envy all those who seem to have time for this.

Can't speak for the rest of the vets Damo but as an (ex at the moment) professional writer I'd prefer to selfishly enjoy the site than write reviews or whatever.
You know the saying a builder doesn't finish work, go home and build a brick wall in his garden... it's that sort of thing for me.
Anyway, just about everything I've got (and I've got a heck of a lot) has been reviewed by someone else on PA - my two cents wouldn't add much, I feel.
And as for attempting to be a collaborator, I am to the Internet what the Venus de Milo is to sleeves.
Mind you, If the title of psychedelic/hard rock/Ladbroke Grove scene specialist was up for grabs, I'd kill for it.
Be interesting to hear what any of my fellow oldies think about this. |
The reason I don`t write that many reviews apart from not really having that much time is for the very reason that you mention above, what is my two cents going to matter when there`s, say, when there are over 700 reviews for Dark Side Of The Moon. I actually wrote a review for it just for fun to see what would come out of my head. I did the same for Mike Oldfield`s Tubular Bells and Tales From Topographic Oceans and it kind of suprised me how they turned out. Now I try to review albums with less than 30 ratings so as not to become redundant. There`s at least 20 - 30 albums that have been reviewed by me alone on the site. I think I`ll just pull something at random this evening out of the dark recesses of my collection and review it no matter what it is.

many have been offered and refused.. knowing it isn't just a cute tag... it means work.. and getting involved in putting your ass on the line. Everyone has an opinion when it doesn't matter hahah.. when it does ..some don't want the headache. Make no mistake... it is a headache.
| I know! Rico won't stop harassing me! He calls me at 3 AM to ask if I evaluated a certain band! He threatens to send people to "meet and greet" me if I don't write bios on time! And worst of all, he says Kansas isn't even prog!

You mean PA is military? You can get busted down in rank? Sounds like fun. I got forced into a desk job in the air force for too many fast low passes including the one on my avatar.

Better question: what's the most fun way to be forced back into being a senior member? This could get interesting.

Me too. It's not a good time to be a jourmalist in Gordon Brown's glorious kingdom of the greater UK.
All I can get is part time work as a chef. I won't say where I work but if any members come to Norwich to eat avoid the lasagne or anything containing pasta, just in case I made it (I can't do Italian - just can't get it right).

I don't know if this is of any interest to anyone, but I am unemployed too... courtesy of Uncle Sam's immigration laws !
