It does. Drummer Mike Portnoy was an alcoholic, and he turned to AA for help. There is a series of songs on the band's later albums which reflect his experiences with the 12-step program. Unfortunately, this is all I know .

My Gosh. Every time DT comes out with a new album all you hear on these forums is whining and b%tching about whether or not it will sound like IAW or Awake. Those albums came out 15 YEARS AGO!! THEY ARE NOT GOING TO SOUND LIKE THAT AGAIN - GET OVER IT. If you are going to complain about DT you are obviously not a fan. So why are you posting up here. Bands like DT, Symphony X and others are keeping prog metal alive and well for the rest of us who love it If you don't like go to the classic rock forums and discuss the finer qualities of Autograph or something. Otherwise just zip it and play Pull Me Under for the 10,000th time.

What's with the AA song-type people are talking about? Is it really true, that I've grown so bored of DT, that I don't know what that means, because I thought I did. After all, I have the albums, I should know the songs.

Their live shows are always really good, because you'll never hear them make a mistake (and I know how much you're a stickler for Petrucci's playing, how AMAZING and TECHNICAL and VIRTUOSTIC, and most importantly, TASTEFUL, it is).

The great thing about a new Dream Theater album is either you'll like it or you can make fun of it. Either way I'm happy.

I really enjoyed Systematic Chaos, a good "return to form" after the woeful Octavarium and I'm hoping they can keep up the quality, though they could do with better lyrics than last time.

Oh, I'm dissapointed. I heard it was a raga rock album....
Now I can't wait for PN09!

Yes, and we'll be there too ! I've wanted to see them live for some years now, even though I am anything but a fan. Who knows, perhaps we'll be converted too ...

Lol, I know I'm in quite a minority, it seems. But I genuinely liked it. And I'm confident that the boys of Team Dreater will do another excellent job.
