1. Larks Tongues in Apsic unquestionably. Everything on that is pure gold. Maybe it's my favorite album of all time. 2. Lizard. I love the jazziness of it. Once again, not a weak moment on the album but the good parts aren't as good. 3. Islands. I don't understand how this is rated so low. I like how mellowness bookends the album. The funkiness of Sailor's Tale, the sadness of The Letters along with the out-of-left-field in-your-face cacophony of sounds, and the pure fun of Ladies of the Road make this a wonderful album.

I've
been meaning to get The Night Watch and The Great Deceiver for the
longest time, but I never got the chance to, and didn't want to order.
Earthbound is okay, so is Epitaph Vol. 3&4.
I probably never gave Lizard enough chances to shine, being one of
the last albums I acquired, but it simply doesn't strike with me in the
same way that some parts on other albums do.
Islands is, well, the only one that remains constant in being last
place, and probably the one I heard the most thanks to being one of my
father's favourites. The rest of them are prone to switches, but
Starless was the third album of theirs I ever heard, and the first of
the second era, thus being one I have more of a relationship to than
others.
Wake is horribly underrated in my eyes. If I could, I'd just
pretend that Wake and Court were a double album and rate that as the
second constant, this time as first.

Haha, no, not even close. People have no sense of history when they proclaim some prog as the first thing with trait x. :( |
Well, I guess I meant in rock music. About other kinds of music - please educate me !
If spelling is incorrect I beg your pardon. English is not my mother tongue as you may realised. |
nothing wrong with what you said omri, Larks' Tongues was a very new kind of album for a popular rock band
|
Agreed. The only use of the word "first" in this post is in relation to it being the first of the Wetton-era albums. Which, hopefully, we can all agree is absolutely true. At least as far as studio albums are concerned. He does not say that it was the first time that chaos was created in music, merely that the music on this album was chaotic. |
Thank you both for deffending me but I did claim that (at least in rock) what KC did was a new chaotic sound that as far as I know (and I may be wrong here) never heared before. One can claim that The nice for example has done such before but I feel that KC did something very different.
