Well, that rating will prevent more people from getting the album and that's good.

This is an excellent thread.    I just found out that Gentle Ronnie posts with me on another forum I frequent...    The name juxtaposed with the title of this thread is gold...

...good thing he didn't go with "Giant Dio"...  in Spanish... Dio sounds a lot like Dillo, which is short for...  yeaaaaah...

YES 90125 progressive rock album and reviews YES - 90125 (1983)
Review by brodders69 @ 5:40:05 AM EST, 4/22/2005
0 stars  —   This morning on the way to work, while idly listening to Chris Moyles on Radio 1 (I know, I know but my CD player is being temperamental at the moment so I had no option) I heard the new single by YES, a remixed dance version of OWNER OF A LONELY HEART. And it reminded how much I hate the 90125 album, with its not very well concealed attempts to break into every comfortable household in middle-America by playing the most awful radio-friendly pop-rock. So I have a suggestion to make – once prog-rock bands start to try & reach out to the mainstream rather than concentrate on making music for art’s sake (as they all preach to us in their formative years) they should all be gathered in the corner of a quiet field & mercilessly shot through the head. Form an orderly queue behind the trigger for target practice on Messrs Wakeman, Anderson, Howe, etc. Next week’s victims: SPOCK’S BEARD.

Is this a review or a rant..opinions please!

<DIV id=intelliTxt align=justify>  —   After hearing so much about these guys, I decided to get one of their albums, what I was treated with was a hour session of the WORST prog-rock has to offer. The singer for the Mars Volta (some stupid name like Omar or Cedric or something), sounds like a girl, if I heard this on the radio without listening to deeply I would think that the vocalist is a girl, but surprise surprise, it's some faggot with an afro. The whole CD manages to crap on about some spanish crap or another, I'm sure all the pseudo-intellectuals are going to rush out, listen to this crap and analyze it's crappy features. Jesus, if only they played more Opeth on the radio instead of this overused trash.
<DIV align=justify>___
<DIV align=justify>
<DIV align=justify>I agree that the album is boll*x and that the emperor is indeed naked. But the singer doesn't sound like a girl but like a braindamaged Robert Plant.</SPAN>

I don't really see what's wrong in sounding like a girl, or what that has to do with being homosexual for that matter. You can't criticize on those terms alone, that's just discriminating. Get your act together, and post something serious!

No, it's just someone taking the piss. See the review below for more of the same, and the review of a DT album in the Report Abuse thread. Seems like somebody is enjoying themselves trying to slip these things in unnoticed.

MIKE OLDFIELD Incantations
Review by Piel Koekjebla @ 2:28:36 PM EST, 3/5/2005

4 stars  —  This is Mike Oldfields Tales from topographic oceans. That should say enough. But for the ones who don't know what I mean by that; it's his most ambitious work to date, its about eighty minutes of music. It has been carefully constructed and very well composed, and it includes some of his best melodies and playing (just as tales did for yes) BUT because it is so long, I can understand that you would probably want to turn it off. It can be dull and boring and repetative (just as tales did for yes) So, to sum it up, it's a truly fantastic album, probably Oldfields best, but it needs patience and attention to appreciate it. While Mike was still working on it, the project was firtly named Inbaftations, this was because of some strange dutch language joke, but because of marketing reasons virgin changed it into Incantations. (this is actually a fact, and most people don't know about this! I heard it from Sally, his sister, when she was visiting southern Ginuea, and I met her at a third world aid project!)

How about that review for the new Dream Theater album?  The one with zero stars that tells everyone not to review the album becasue it's not out yet.  But they guy reviewed it in order to tell people not to review it!  That's almost like telling people television is bad for them through the use of a commercial!  Or like calling someone on a cell phone to inform them that they are getting cancer shot into their ear!  What the hell?!?!

Yeah I have read this review to! Very strange, he was talking about some classical composer named Piel Koekjebla. Does anyone now him, because if so, I really want to hear the original.

Sloppy? Phillippe, if you can write and record better music, let me hear it. Otherwise let someone who isn't completely deaf review albums.

That review bugged me too!

I agree with the reviewer... I think that Songs From The Wood is sloppy... Stand Up and Aqualung are the only albums by Jethro Tull that you'll need! And both are great!
And above all, is punk

Bryan's review and Phil talk about the album in a correct manner and explain why they do not like it in a good argumentative way. A few months ago , Three fates wanted to take some ELP reviews away because she did not like them and I argued for those remained posted. In this case, this is meant to get under someone's skin - if need be look at the name of the reviewer.

This is clearly a spoof and it got me a good laugh!!!

Absolutely - I say re-instate it immediately!

Frustrated as he is he alternates his hour long obsessive masturbation sessions with writing of his anger with real lame reviews on random sites hoping to finally get some recognition.

Well shucks, I was going to write a bio of my own, but you saved me the trouble.

Thanx.

Apart from the fact that neither Pete Waterman nor LOLLittle Jimmy Osmond were part of the project and of course it was only 15 weeks at No 1 in Albania!Tongue
