Used or New CDs

It depends. I'm not going to pay the prices some shops charge for CDs. I also find it is good to wait a while. The prices of remasters usually come down. But, a lot of things I am looking for can't be found in a mainstream store. That's when used shops come in very handy. You just have to find places where the proprietors are music freaks too. They tend to stand behind their inventory. I have returned a couple of things that slipped past watchful eyes.

^Wow! In Finland (at least in the record stores I've visited) most used CDs (at least the good ones) are around 7-9€. Even at flea markets it's rare to find anything good for 2€.

I prefer new CDs, because the difference in price is usually not very big. I only buy used CDs if the price is low and there aren't too many scratches. And yes, I smell them too.

every object that has been produced out of natural materials give (by touching, smelling) a great sensation of new, of freshness, i can't give you a better explanation... of course CDs contain little of natural materials, but there's also the abstract idea of having a new object that turns on some strange appetite. don't you find unwrapping the CD exciting?

i prefer new cds because they are 'safer', at least for me

I prefer used CDs because they are cheaper and you can find some good albums in a used CD shop.
