I picked other. My passion is puzzles of all sorts, math, logic, word, jigsaw, ...
I also love games, not e-games though. My two favourites are bridge and role-playing, and I'm a big fan of party games, boardgames (esp strategy), card games.
And reading - I read quite a bit.
Oh, love sports but I'm to old for the aggressive ones. These days I prefer golfing & swimming (summer), skiing & skating (winter), darts and pool (all year).
Another hobby is cooking, one I'm looking forward to developing as the kids grow up and I have more leasure time on my hands.
Wine, did I mention wine? Hmmmm, wiiiiiine...
I try not to watch much TV. When I do it is mostly sports and movies.
I did go through a belly enhancing phase - now I'm trying to minimize my rate of growth! (and hopefully reverse it)

Let's see:
1 I like science fiction. Of any kind, as long as it's good SF, not a space-opera. SF-related movies, SF-related-books, memorabilia, SF-music (one of the reasons why I got into prog). 2 I have a passion for secession. Not the political one; I mean art noveau, Gustav Klimt, paintings, buildings, Budapest, Vienna, fonts, design, any visual art from the end of the 19th and beginning of 20th century. 3a Music. I play keyboard, bass, guitar, mandolin and several other string instruments. 3b I used to examine very carefully scales, relations, structures, harmony, intervals...I'm trying to discover something new. I don't know what, though. 3c Sound synthesis. Oscillators, filters, sine waves, modulations, LFO, ADSR, frequency modulation, additive & subtractive synthesis. I reached the point where I can create convincing grand piano sound using sine waves and FM synthesis. I created a few synths with unique, advanced architecture (only on paper, though, I don't have money, resources or knowledge of electronics). Which leads me to... 3d Collectioning of vintage keyboards & synths. Unfortunatelly, no Moogs or any modulars yet. There are few other things, but they are not so relevant nowadays. To summarize: the closest choice would be movies and literature, but I'm more into an art genre than an art type. Btw, I'm 100% anti-sport person. I tried; absolute failure. Decided not to like sports. |

Good for you! I wish I still had the time to be able to do this
So, my own interests are reading, theatre, football (the one you play with your feet) and British films. Edited by dedokras - January 18 2007 at 08:20 |

Mainly: Movie fan. Not a moviegoer but fan of any kind of cinema. 200 DVD on my colection (and counting) and a perverted love for directors as Tarkovski, Kubrick, Reygadas, Solondz, Jarmusch, Cronenberg, Lynch, Antonioni, Caiozzi, Fincher, Mann, Hawks, Ford, Hitchcock, L. Anderson, Truffaut, Cassavettes, Reggio & Fricke, Resnais, Jodorowsky, Scorsese, Ford Coppola, Malick, Altman, Leone, Peckinpah, G. Miller and many-many-many others...
Second (closer): literature. In fact I'm writing my first novel. Love Vonnegut, Philip Dick, Fred Brown, Dan Simmons, Garcia Marquez, Federico Andahazi, Pedro Juan Gutierrez, John Cheever, Bioy Casares, Armando Cassigoli, Palaniuhk amongst others... Other interests and hobbies: History, TV documentaries, colect photos (from internet or impressions) and of course, drink beer |

Any time a list of things has to be made I always forget something, because Sci&Fi and Fantasy and especially Star Wars is a passion of mine. It's easy to be knowledgeable about the SW movies but the real test is your knowledge of the Star Wars EU(Expanded Universe),which I am really into.I can give you very detailed back story on very minor characters in the films,or ones that are alluded to in the films. The EU is incredible, and if you like Star Wars you should start delving into the vast amount of EU books that are available. |

i was the freak voting "Don't have any interests ,life is boring, kill me"
actually this is because
- since i started working (ordinary job, nothing connected to my professional background) i don't have the time i formerly used for my hobbies and also i couldn't set a better time&activities management in order to get that back and/or draw new interests. while before i was a heavy reader (i took the book and only released it when finished), in the last 6 months i read only (almost) three novels... art is also keeping me less and less busy, almost to 0, but it doesn't count as a lost hobby as art was the my professional playground before. my interest & desire for film is still strong but coming back home tired doesn't set the mood for it. TV is not what i would consider a hobby because of random contents and because of the little fruition. i don't even have a TV set. PC Games i quit long time ago because i feel they're only waste of time (for me). the poor capacities of my computer also inhibit my rare tentatives towards gaming.
- since my short-sightedness has incresead and doesn't let me play any sporting games without my glasses anymore, footbal and basket-ball are also out of the hobby list. (i wouldn't play with glasses on as they're too expensive for me to break).
so this leaves me with... nothing. shoot me!

All of these except movies. Unfortunately only as a consumer; I couldn't create anything if my life depended on it .

Curious complaint from one who lists interests as "hating life and the world, crying, cutting myself, being misunderstood." I dread to think what form of pornography fits in with that little list... |

I prefer the smaller gauges as you can get a lot in to a small space, my stuff is all German N gauge, I would like to build a Swiss HOm narrow gauge layout at some point though. But I'm at university so I don't have the room to use my current track or build a permanent layout. |

Movies - was into it (at the cinemas, never at home) until the medium went completely dry in the late 90's. Go to see four movies a year, now!! Never collected movies in any form >> can't understand those who do.
TV: Mostly at my girlfriend's place where we generally watch documentary (she's a strong "intelligent TV " fan), and I watch few series but only with her. News and documentaries are what I consider TV for.
Literature - read a lot of classic, but find a lot of them rather unhelpful in today's personal interest. I read few novels (but I have a certain passion for the Belgian-French "comics strips", which has nothing to do with Magas or superheroes).
Painting - most of my interest in arts is of the 20th century, beit painting or sculpting. But there is more trash from thar same century than most of the others centuries altogether
History, geography and geopolitics: love it to death in certain periods, gets rather sick of it in others. Usually linked to world news or new books arriving on the shelves
Sports : Spectator:While in America, I followed NHL and NFL, then in Europe was more into cycling, but since the Festina scandal (98) I hardly follow it anymore (or any other sports >> just look at standings in the newspaper mostly and the occasional article). As participant: a bit of cycling and swimming, but I should do more
Egames: no interest at all >> although I must say that some of those graphics... Myst, Tomb Raiders, and those developped by Benoit Sokal are superb, but I could never spend the time to get good at using the stuff >> mostly watch my friends once they get good at them.
Boardgames (those with dice and strategy): maybe once or twice a year.
Music: I hate it all , never spend an ounce of time listening to that crap; I am just here for the trolling Edited by Sean Trane - January 17 2007 at 05:45 |

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

mine are:
History (castles, old houses, monuments, museums etc)
Nature (bird and wildlife watching) and
Films
you'd got two of them listed...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
