Post Heavy Prog bands that aren't metal or directly related to metal, like
being on the hard rock/heavy metal border, my list may help you see my
definition of heavy
Amon Duul II - first three albums are very heavy, and Eye Shaking King might as well be the heaviest song ever written
Mahavishnu Orchestra - goddamn they were heavy
Guru Guru - possibly the dirtiest music ever made (that is still very listenable)
King Crimson - generally a heavy atmosphere to their music but the
always managed to knock you to the floor at least once on an album
Magma - very weird, very dark, very heavy
some honorable mentions
ELP, Nektar, Univers Zero , German Oak, Lard Free, Ash Ra Tempel
